Yann M'Vila

See this post below and try to say that again but this time explain in maybe a sentence or two as to why you think that way?

Also who should have been on instead of him given the options we had today? If you say Rodwell then again look at the comparison of Cattermole's contributions today and Rodwell in his last 2 games.

The simple fact is we are missing the player for that position but to ignore that Cattermole played decent overall stinks of an agenda against the player. At least when I slag Rodwell off I show why I feel he contributes very little for the role he's supposed to be playing in. If Rodwell had done what Cattermole had done today then I'd have given him at least a 7 and put him 2nd place for MOTM behind Kirchhoff.
Cattermole thinks he's the backbone of the team, he's more like arthritis. I lost count how many times he gets the ball in the centre of the pitch and it ends up at Vitos feet. His first thought must be can I send a hopeful impossible pass forwards or should I just turn around and lay it back.

A Cattermole apologist

that ball in for someone or other to head at goal or maybe kick it, i cannit remember, any road, he played a ball in from teh left that ere mint like.

He's dome very little since the new year but always wants the ball and you can see in his touch, he's a quality footballer. His passing was dreadful today, mind.

So bringing up past performances then? Did you even click the link? He played it back once today to Mannone but maybe he didn't have an option (I think I recall he got pressured quickly so it was forced rather than intentional) but don't other players do that? What about all the passes he played forward today in and around the box? I count 7 within a few yards of the box and 3 were chances whereas Rodwell seem to hit a brick wall 30 yards out with his passing as I showed in that the link so here it is again.

He has been average for the majority of the season, I am sorry but he has, he stood out initially because we were that bad elsewhere, but he doesn't influence games at all.

This ready made excuse of winter break and he is just knackered is complete shite

Least he takes responsibility and tries to create things, M'Villa offers nothing going forward in the slightest.

Gets away with murder, guess it isn't cool to criticise him.

Load of shit this post like, his influence has been lesser in recent months but he is an intelligent passer and starts off many of our attacks by not panicking on the ball and moving the ball on well. He had a below average game today but he is still a very important side

The bloke most likely needs a rest, barely played for Rubin /Inter then didn't have much of a pre-season. He was head an shoulders above anyone else the first half of the season then his form drops and people are straight on his back, poor that in my opinion
I posted this about the Mags game as people said he wasn't up to scratch. Again it's a case of they don't see what happens as watching live and trying to watch all players is impossible. Today he wasn't as noticeable but he still got involved at times but I can't be arsed to check. The fact we are missing the 3rd midfielder we ideally need is not helping M'Vila and Kirchhoff either.

This was around the 5th minute and you can see the effort by M'Vila (note Rodwell's pitch coverage so early in the game!)

The 2nd gif around 23 mins shows Rodwell probably covers over 100 yards back and then up the pitch at a jog but doesn't really look to get involved. Whereas M'Vila is all over, getting the ball, making a run etc. The majority of time the opposition face Rodwell, he stands off a few yards and rarely commits to challenging them and certainly doesn't like to tackle as his stats show. M'Vila does this and it's not always noticed.

You would think that Sunderland fans would know shite when they see it. This lad is clearly a good player, considering where he came from, the team he has come in to and the fact he is new to English football I think he has been excellent. Does an excellent job covering for PVA as well.

It's wasted on me, I know that he is one of the reasons we will never push on as a successful team while he is playing

There has been a lot of talk about this in recent weeks and up until today I thought it was a bit overplayed, he was really poor today though. I think early in the season he was expected to do everything defensively and going forward. I think since Kirchoff has come into the side he is just doing a simpler, more restricted job. I thought he played well at Newcastle for example. Today though he had a stinker.
He stood out in a poor team. We've added some better players and mvila has had his role changed.so he doesn't appear to be as good maybe. He was a bit patchy today but in the second half was always making himself available and trying to drive forward. He seems to be doing less defensive work since Kirchhoff arrived which is probably his best position, though Kirchhoff is better there in my opinion. I don't think he should be dropped as we've got no one better than him as back up.

Aye we should bring Rodwell or Larsson in for him. Or bring back Craig Gardner.

I'm convinced that some people don't know what they're watching. M'Vila is a defensive midfielder - he does his job well.

I'm a fan of M'Vila but at the moment he's only getting in the team because there's no alternative. Since Christmas he's been pants.

He hasn't been pants at all. He just so happens to have had a decent defensive midfielder (kirchoff) alongside him to take some of the burden off him.

This board baffles me, fickle as those fucker up the road. Two or three months ago, he'd be sold to a top 6 club in the summer, now he's shite.

Unbelievable.

It's not unbelievable that I have a different view to you. I see a player who looks unfit, who misplaces passes and who offers very little offensively. At least Cattermole had a go today.
