Xbox One Elite Controller: Question

I traded a load of shit I don't use in at CEX the other day and swapped it for an XB1 Elite Controller, with the idea that I'd keep the normal one for my PC and the Elite for the XB1 and would no longer have to keep re-connecting it when I swapped each device.
Now though, I just want to use the Elite on both devices so still have to keep re-connecting it and still have the same problem.

My question... Has there ever been a better example of a First World Problem than this?

Hard wire it and there's no connection issue.
