Wyke is shite

He was good today and really helps majas game.

Helped it so much that he was completely ineffective. All the chances fell to Wyke and his sponge feet. Maja would have put at least one of those away but for whatever reason he stopped getting into the positions he normally does.

I’m really unsure about Wyke. There MAY be more to come from him but essentially he’s a lumbering Ox with zero chance of stepping up to Championship level should we get there. We need a smarter, more mobile striker.....a one in the mould of Taylor yesterday. If we sign one and Wyke improves it’s a win win....if he still looks poor then flog him to a L1 team at the end of the season.

He doesn't have Maja or Defoe's eye for goal but who the fuck does? He is a league 1 striker and a good one have you noticed the teams we have played and there strikers. I think the Maja thing needs stressing we are still used to premiership strikers or high quality championship strikers like Gabban, some fans don't realise what a striker at this level is like.

Nothing like getting behind the lads and gjving the your support!!

Haven't been very impressed so far but it's miles too early to write the lad off yet. Let him get back to full fitness and gain some confidence and then we'll be able to start judging just how good the lad is.

Can’t be bothered with arseholes like you tbh. You have nothing to contribute other than trying to engender herd mentality support.

Aww fuck off yer blithering idiot. Fine, you like me to expand.. Right for a start it's a lad who's hardly played this season, ring rusty and still not fully fit. It's got nowt about encouraging a 'herd mentality it's about a reluctance to have an unjustifed unfair criticism of a player at my club who is currently not at his best and ensuring a degree of support is still there for the lad... Well of course if you would like me to slag the lad off like the bulk on here (yer know like the herd mentity) you refer too... Get a grip I'm merely defending a player AGAINST the so called herd mentality....

Furthermore id strongly suggest you check out my forum contributions before opening yer bigmouth

I'm not certain Wyke is the answer. He's a mile away from being match fit, but, unless his playing creates loads more chances, we might struggle, as he doesn't look to be as effective a goal scorer as Maja (as the stats show, though, no-one is, at this level). This does not mean he's shite.

As an option, from that bench, may be his ultimate / most productive role, for us.

Shall I check your “contributions” about Lee Camp, Jason Steele, Glen Loovens etc. You just have to accept that sometimes players are either finished or were never really that good in the first place. What I said was that I’m far from convinced, fit or otherwise, that Wyke is any good. It’s fuck all to do with “getting behind the lads” it’s about expressing an opinion based on actually watching players for over 50 years. If you care to check MY posting history this season it’s generally very positive about developments at the club and supportive of individual players where I think it’s merited. If however I don’t think individuals are up to the job I’m also going to say that.

He will score a good few IMO. Just needs to get his eye in. As a point to hit though and bring out attacking wide players into play, he was excellent. Also, he made a couple of significant defensive headers. This is something that can not be overlooked as we have allowed the opposing team to score a good few from these situations.

Still very early days. He needs a goal mind, the longer he goes without scoring the more difficult he'll find it. He didn't look close to scoring against Blackpool, unsure about yesterday.
