Because that's how the system works. He won't be sold for a fee as we've absolutely destroyed any residual value left in the lad and as I keep pointing out no club in L1 can afford anywhere near £7500/week and no club in the Championship will want him as he's never proved he can operate there.
If he’s sold, he will agree new wages surely? No subsidisation required to make it up to 7500 as it will be a new contract. Or am I bein thick here

FYI....

I watched Hauser in his first game for SAFC, if I recall correctly, and I’m old, it was a reserve game, the same game Nunez debuted. Let me tell you something, Hauser was different class, utterly comfortable on the ball and stroked it about like Beckenbauer. Hugely impressive. Tho I haven’t googled it I seem to recall he had 30 + caps for zee Jeermans. You don’t get that many if you are crap. To this day I can’t understand why he never got in first team ( I don’t think. Was long time ago )
I'm pretty sure Helmer had already left Sunderland when Nunez signed. Nunez signed in the March, by which point Helmer was already on loan at Hertha Berlin - where he got injured and then retired.

He never played for Germnay mind mate

Look bit further up, I got mixed up, was Thomas Helmet I meant

He didn’t. Helmer and Nunez were at SAFC at the same time. 2000

Given the probability of a salary cap on L1 we need to sack Parkinson and get someone in who can utilise our greatest liability (Grigg) to better effect. Hell be sitting twiddling his thumbs on 3X the average L1 wage while Parkinson persists in playing Wyke. A manager who can set up to show Grigg to best effect could give us a 20 goal striker.
Mick Mc Carthy or Warnock would get us playing football

Well, Helmer signed in 1999, played 2 games and by November 1999 was playing for Hertha Berlin on loan, got injured, and then never played another competitive match for anyone. Nunez signed in the following March.

It is possible that Helmer's loan was cancelling following injury, came back here and played in a reserve game or 2 before retiring I guess. It is also possible you've recalled incorrectly.

Yes it is, as I said in my original post but it’s not that important is it.My point was about how good Helmer was, and he was believe me. Apparently he got kicked on loan after big fight with Saxton, nothing to do with his ability

Going put it out there that wyke will cost us promotion. He’s f***ing useless. Can’t do anything other than foul people. Worst centre forward I’ve seen play for us. Even makes tommy hauser look a world beater.

Got nothing to his game. Plays in steel toe caps.
Definitely on par with Andy gray, except gray played at a higher level

It`s one of the biggest mysteries in my time supporting us. Helmer was absolute class before he joined and still after he left. I just can`t understand why he wasn`t a regular in the etam
He had a big fight with Saxton and that was that but as a footballer I was massively impressed. So cool and calm on the ball, amazing

Double figures 3 times in his career after that the most goals he scored was a massive 7 ... Awful player

Hope you are as it would be good for us, but why would anyone take a 70% pay cut?
That 2,400 figure is the average. He’ll move on undoubtedly with a pay cut. It might not be 70% less but he’ll take the cut. He hates playing for us and wants move to a club nearer to home in Birmingham. Family issues and chance to revive the final years of your career wound count for a lot wouldn’t they?

I hate watching him play. It's painful. 2 years left on his contract, hope to God he doesn't see them out.
