Was out for a curry with a mate last night and we agreed this was the worst quality premier league in years.

Most years one of the teams that come up might have been a bit of a surprise and done well but this year all of the promoted teams have been doing quite well.

All of the big four have worse squads than they've had for years bar chelski but even they don't have the best of the best anymore as all the best players have gone to spain.

Spanish league has been syphoning off he cream of the talent for years and the last two seasons Real and Barca have really just bought themselves the best from all over.

Last weekend had some canny games but overall the quality is down and that is showing in the national side.

Thoughts?

You went on a date with a bloke last night.

Rubbish.......it's the most exciting and evenly matched for years......surely that's what we have all been waiting for.

The quality has improved in the Premier beyond recognition. Every team even the newly promoted ones (perhaps not Blackpool) have some top class players. It is the most competitive it has ever been and this will stand our teans in Europe in good stead.

What kind of curry did you have on your date ?

Wasn't a date like, just watched the first half of the England match in the Cat and Canary and then went for a curry.

I had a chicken bhuna.

Owt else?

More teams have improved while the top teams have aged and got weaker. Just look at us, we only finished 13th last season, yet we have a 30mil strikeforce consisting of a 25 goal England international and a Ballon D'or nominee, The most expensive British goalkeeper ever, four World Cup quarter finalists and a squad full of internationals.

The quality is still there, it's just more spread out than ever before.

That bit is true but a lot of the matches have been shite tbh.

Liverpool, Arsenal and Man U are all a lot weaker in terms of the quality of players they now have and all of them, plus chelski had mad some suspect purchases over the last few summers.

It def mean the prem is a bit closer (hence the current close spread in points) but the quality of the talent on show has decreased and this is impacting the overall game imo.

Just good friends.

Are you two going to talk football or just carry on with your little homoerotic fantasies? Maybe you should meet up with Toosb and get a room?

It's far and away the most exciting premier for years , from our point of view at least -

the big 4 are not so big and the rest are not also rans - it's much better than the spanish league which is fast becoming a classier version of the Scottish premier.

P.S. if I had a m8 of any kind I would definitely not mention it on this board - what's the world coming to when you can't say you were out with a M8, without being accused of sexual depravity!!

True. Quick to judge I suppose.

Text speakers are all charvers though.

You say it's weaker but look at Chelsea's Champions League group, they are walking it even though Marseille and Spartak Moscow are quality teams, Chelsea have won 4 out of 4, with a goal difference in double figures and they'll probably get to at least the semis.

I think the rest of the teams need more credit for improving, also with Blackpool coming up and just going for it in every game and getting results, I believe it's given other managers confidence to not just sit back and defend.
