See tho punk as it is described in the USA is what I would describe as clever art school stuff, Patty Smith, Talking Heads et al (apart from the sainted Ramones who are literally gods) punk in UK was a pure visceral angry, political, social movement, with a touch of a saucy seaside post card, so although both sides of the Atlantic had their punk movements it is like punk apples and punk oranges, two completely different things. Think I sound like a pseudo trendy music journalist, but that's what I think. And poster who said Ramones were worst band ever.....i'm coming for you
So, you're saying that UK punk compared with US punk is kind of like Britpop compared with the proper indie/alternative stuff that came before it... it had the same sounds but none of the artistic merit?
