Hmmm okay.Punk started officially in New York in 1974, a development of the protopunk garage rock scene that started in the late 1960's in NE USA.
Who are mc5?I was listening to MC5 in 1969.
One of the first punk bands, my dear.Hmmm okay.
Who are mc5?
…. along with The Stooges . Both of DetroitOne of the first punk bands, my dear.
Was well respected as a nice guy before he died. Vinnie Vincent on the other hand is a horrendous rip off merchant.Don't forget Eric Carr
Not so much adopted, as completely taking it over, and perfecting it.Punk's another American genre that the UK later adopted.

So much so, that the majority of people see it as a British genre.

Aye, never really heard of anything by the Stooges until 71/72 ish.…. along with The Stooges . Both of Detroit
Got dragged to see Roxy Music a good few years back. They were absolutely terrible, live.Aye, never really heard of anything by the Stooges until 71/72 ish.
Aye, you're probably right in what you say.Maybe the majority of English folks that never looked past the British scene.
Ask a New York punk fan whose genre it is.
As for "perfecting it"...
And then there's Velvet Underground, Patti Smith, New York Dolls, Ramones...
Not my cup of tea TBH, though I liked their first couple of singles, Ferry always sounds and looks, like a man with a severe case of the runs.Got dragged to see Roxy Music a good few years back. They were absolutely terrible, live.
10cc were great, check out "one night in Paris" I always thought it gave Queen the idea for Bohemian rhapsody.
It all just sounded like rock to me, take Rotten's vocal off a track and overdub a rock singer and it wouldn't sound any different to rock, It's the vocal delivery that makes it what it is, imo.Aye, you're probably right in what you say.
Think the word I should have used is hijack.
I, like many, arrived at punk via the Clash, Pistols etc. The awareness of the American punk scene came later for me, as for many Brits I think.
Consequently, rightly or wrongly, my appreciation of punk is measured against British bands.
But what you say is right marra.
