Worst band ever

U2
Ocean Colour Scene
Ian Brown
Morrisey
Noel Gallager
The last 3 aren't really bands tho. Suppose Noel Gallagher and his high flying birds might be, they are just front men backed by session musicians aren't they
I love Oasis, The Smiths, and The Stone Roses but can't stand their solo stuff. Liam / Beady Eye too.
Oops should have read further down before replying.

Nah, I'm not having that.

With the exception of Black Sabbath kicking off the entire Heavy Metal movement and very few other exceptions, British contemporary music has almost always rode on America's coat tails, usually playing it much more safely than their American counterparts.

Even The Beatles for their first five albums or so were a wholesome British band playing a safe lovey-dovey version of the established boundary-pushing American rock'n'roll that had developed from the American blues scene.

Britpop was a safe wannabe grunge movement 5 or 6 years too late.

The British rap scene only found its feet thirty years or so after America had been laying the groundwork.

And then there's jazz, funk, soul, fusion, prog, jam... British artists were WAY late to the table.
Brit pop was a straight rip off from punk. Listen to Wire’s I am the Fly and compare it to much of Blurs early output.
Mumford and sons
Add Coldplay and Elbow for pure musical narcolepsy.

My exs mum was obsessed. Used to blair them out 24/7 and watch Mama Mia 8 times a week. Put me completely off them and now their music just sounds like nails screeching down a chalkboard
Know what you mean, my brother loved Bob Dylan and played him for hours on end, constantly quoting his 'genius insightful' lyrics to me. Consequently I hate the nasal tw*t. Know he's not a band but showing empathy for your misguided hatred of ABBA
