Worst Away Day you've done

3 for me;

7-1 at Everton. Spineless performance and one of, if not the, very worst individual display I’ve ever seen from Paul McShane

3-0 at West Brom in 2009. Miserable day

3-0 (possibly 3-1) at Barnsley in of our 1st games in this league. Bleak

Remember walking back to the car at Everton and hearing more goals go in , one of the lads I was with wanted to stay till the end , my reply of I’ll be on the M62 by the final whistle was enough to persuade him to come with us.

Dreadful performance.

Blackburn away circa 2011. Monday night (on sky iirc), I was at uni in the North West, finished at 6pm and made the decision to dash over to Ewood and pay on the gate. Got there late, drew 0-0, the game was shite then it dawned on me that I hadn't even thought about trains home. Missed the last train from Blackburn so taxi to Preston for a different train. Fairly sure the taxi driver went via Kent, took ages and cost a fortune for an unemployed student.

Most been mentioned:

Barnsley 3 - 0, one of first games relegated from Premier League

Millwall semi final.

Bradford in the cup under Poyet.

But worst for me was Hull 3-0 FA Cup QF under Poyet. No desire to try and get to Wembley twice in one season. When I heard the draw for the Semi-Final (Hull got the easiest draw, can't remember who) I was raging all over again.

Hull away in the cup , in around the time of the league cup final against city

shite performance and wasted opportunity to get back to Wembley

Flipping the other thread on its head, what's the worst away experience you've had.

Not in terms of result but the overall day. For me it was Everton away in 2017 under Simon Grayson in the League Cup. Travelled down by myself on a dry supporters bus, lost 3-0 and may as well not have showed up.

Everton won in first gear and there was about 400 SAFC fans down. Just an absolute waste of time from start to finish and one of those proper 'what am I doing with my life' kinda nights.

Cambridge away around 91/92. Didn't get out of our own half for 90 minutes. 3 nowt home win.

Millwall away 1991: mental place, there was a reason the coppers came on the buses and said if you go back out under the bridge we can't guarantee your safety, we did and if you never went there before they moved to the new ground you just wouldn't know. 4-1 home win.

Think it was Doncaster away around 30 years ago. Stood in the away end and some lad spent the whole match just spitting greenies into what became a mini pool just in front of his feet. Dirty bastard. Lost too.

Was that the coldest night you have ever experienced ? If so I was there.

I think the game you’re on about was the cup replay, went to extra time as well. I can remember thinking we could do without this, just want to go home, bloody freezing!
Might have been 2010 jan or Feb. The coldest I’ve ever been at a match. Stayed overnight down there and six inches of snow next morning once we got past Skipton.

Every Wembley visit since 1973. Too young to go then been to all the rest apart from last year due to covid and we won. Gerrin!

nay offence and that, but you said worst day not in terms of the result, but then framed the whole disappointment of your day in the context of the result / performance.
Nee and offence and that but I've been to Southampton seen us lose 8-0 and had a mint day regardless same with nearly every other away day I've been on😂

That game just stands out cos it was gim, performance and result minging but tbf expected given where we were at but the dry bus, the fact I didn't it alone, the fact there was no atmosphere and it just felt like a waste of time made it the worst one I've done

Late 80s, can't remember the exact year, West Ham on a Tuesday night. Made a last minute decision to go. Me and a pal got the overnight bus down, arrived about 6:30am iirc. Spent the day wandering around London with not much money. Got over to West Ham about half five because we didn't know exactly where it was. Very dodgy place, so we got ourselves into this pie shop and lingered as long as we could. Got in the ground at 6:30, feeling pleased with ourselves having made it. We got beat 8-1... Three different keepers on the night, including Beardsley. Hardly anyone down, but a canny few London mags. Walking back to the tube afterwards a few lads set about us. A minor scuffle before the police chased them off. Made our way back to Victoria for the night bus and we had a long hungry journey home. Nee money left, got off at Durham and walked back to Stanley. About a day and a half of mostly misery. Still, didn't stop us going again.
Even after an 8-1 defeat getting back into Stanley was still the most depressing part of the story

Rotherham away 0-0 draw, freezing cold, snow on ground, Tom Ritchie centre forward. Both teams were absolute shite and couldn't remember either side getting into the box never mind attempts on goal.

Not sure if it counts but fortunately wasn't a Sunderland game, seemed like a good idea at the time but bloody wasn't, went to the Liverpool v Juventus game at Hysel in 87, think I could write a book on how horrendous it was :-(

Seen a few pathetic displays, but its always a good thing to be following safc on the road.

Recently under moyes in pink at West Brom was poor. Bit of fighting amongst our fans too.

Southampton 8nil. Equally poor display was Norwich that season. 0-2, could have been 8nil easily. Rare sighting of scococco.

Warning signs under di canio at Villa Park. 5-1?

Andy gray tearing us apart at sheff u... loads of crap, but generally a good laugh
