Palace Away - postponed when on M25
I was in the Railway Telegraph when I found out it was off. We spent the rest of the evening in the pub. Quite possibly one of the best trips to Hellhurst Park I’ve ever had.

Away at Palace August 2013 springs to mind. Palace had been shocking in their opening games and were there for the taking. We were totally inept and you could see them growing in confidence every minute. Scored from their first attack. We got an equaliser somehow but that capitulated. You could see it was a team of individuals with no game plan just a radgey manager

Away at Wimbledon 3rd Jan 2000.... Bank Holiday Monday...Took about 3 hours to get from the motorway to the ground due to the retail parks of Croydon being rammed...

Got dropped off and made it with about 30min gone. Just in time to see them score... Then Thatcher tried to take Summerbees head off....
Then absolutely nothing happened in the second half.
My parents even missed the goals as they were parking and ended up being escorted across the pitch at half time as the turnstiles had all closed.

Not as bad as my previous visit to Wimbledon but still....

I suppose it depends on context Wimbledon when we got beat Coventry still playing and then relegated. I was at Blackburn for a 6-0 defeat Derby for 5-0 and Southampton in the cup for 4-0. And a special mention for Man Utd when I got hit in the face by a brick.
I went to Everton when we got beat 7-1 but didn’t get in cos I was too pissed
Result not getting in

Palace away in the playoffs... Friday night, I was just a bairn at 17.
Started off canny with good trip down and we managed to get served in a pub near the ground where the home fans were accommodating.

Got beat 3-2 in a good game, but we were at the front and caught up in the bother at the end.
Getting back to the bus there was bother everywhere, and to top it off someone asked me to open the sunroof on the bus (god knows why it had a sun roof) but I accidentally pulled the fire escape handle and the whole thing bounced off down the motorway.
What followed was a 6 hour trip with everyone freezing their tits off and fuming at me.

Got back in the early hours and had work at 7am. Lovely experience.
Sorry mate, but that made me piss myself laughing.

The 4-0 defeat to Reading, back in 97. Massive delays getting the train across from Brighton, meaning we were already 2-0 by the time I got to the ground. Got the on wrong platform at Reading West after the game, and ended up missing my connecting train back to Brighton.

This, failed to get thrown out twice despite arguing with coppers about the lack of alcohol on sale whilst clearly being absolutely mortal

Done the Everton 7-1 and a few of the 5-0s mentioned on here, a few relegations plus loads of Mags defeats including the 5-1.

But Hull QF under Poyet stands out for me. A 3rd division team awaited in the semi and he couldn’t give a fuck. Ustari and Scocco starting, Jesus wept. Still pisses me off til this day - many of us on here may never see a better chance again for us to win the cup. Hull were no better than us as a side and went 2-0 up against Arsenal in the final that year.

Bradford in the cup was the day I completely lost all faith in Poyet. He’d already blamed the fans, 4,000 turned up on a Sunday & didn’t get a kick. He stood at the other side of the pitch at the end, shook e try one of the gutless wankers hands & ingnored the fans

Likewise , but I’d forgotten all about the Hull QF , just a week or so after Wembley anyway , what more motivation would a player and manager need ?

Peter Reids last away derby at those lot up the road. We lost 2-0, Bellamy scored after about 90 seconds and that was game over pretty much

I came up from London for that without a ticket. Went through the train asking for spares. A Sunderland lad offered me one. Politely declined. Nice of him to offer. Think I bought him.a beer or two on the train IIRC. Ended up getting one for the Newcastle end outside. Cost me £100... robbing bastard. Newcastle were 4/7 but I was sure we'd win so stuck £700 on. In for a penny... My £400 profit more than paid for the weekend.

Rotherham shed of a ground we played awful lost and was nursing a hangover to start with closely followed by Coventry away when they played at high field road. You had that weird pub right near the ground with home fans in one bit us the other side. 3-0 down got it back to 3-2 then Kildare smacked the post last minute!

Why did you turn the ticket down if you went about the train asking for spares

Done saints 8 safc 0
But yesterday was easily the most miserable I've been at the football.
I was absolutely freezing. Watching the ball get stuck and football unplayable, it was just a waste of time.
Easily the earliest I've left a stadium, and to show how bad it was there were loads of pompey fans walking to Fratton Station with us who we got chatting to who couldn't stay any longer.
Strangely I'm not overly upset with the result, as yesterday wasn't a football game.
It was a total waste of time and absolutely pathetic that it was played
My worst day ever. Worst than getting chased by 50 Stoke lads when I was 18 and with 5 mates and getting jumped by the cemetery near their ground and kicked all over.

Flipping the other thread on its head, what's the worst away experience you've had.

Not in terms of result but the overall day. For me it was Everton away in 2017 under Simon Grayson in the League Cup. Travelled down by myself on a dry supporters bus, lost 3-0 and may as well not have showed up.

Everton won in first gear and there was about 400 SAFC fans down. Just an absolute waste of time from start to finish and one of those proper 'what am I doing with my life' kinda nights.
Barnsley mid 90s in big open end? Got beat 4-0 or 4-1 and got legged all over by Barnsley radgies
