I thought it was a bit of humour, placed the ball out of play iirc? Refereeing has become to robotic, nee room for common sense or a bit of humour.

At its worst petulance then. I thought the second booking was more than a bit harsh, but then again the game was at Old Trafford so the outcome wasn't really that surprising.

Think we're on about different situations, remember last season we won a free kick shooting towards the south stand by the west stand bye line? Ref kept telling him to move it towards the bye line so he put the ball down out of play and he was booked. I found it mildly amusing.

Oh yeah, I remember that one now. Another harsh booking. It was pretty stupid by him but in times gone by or if it was a player considered to be a "character" it would have been laughed off probably. Sunderland player, possibly considered a twat, yella card out.

If Gazza had done it, it would be on every football 'funny' DVD from now until forever.

not sure what being " sunderland player of the year" has to do with anything, if it did danny collins would still be here .....

Remember when the ref dropped his card? Gazza picked it up and mock booked the ref. Ref ended up booking Gazza. That crazy Gazza cracks me up everytime

You guys have kind of blown your own argument out of the water by claiming that Bardsley has no left foot but then claiming that John O'Shea does.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't it just one person claiming this?

Era's shouldnt have anything to do with it, you either cant play at left back or can.

Precisely, rendering your Denis Irwin comparison completely moot.

Bardsley proved last year he can

He proved he can do an adequate job in an emergency.

“I don’t think there’s any problem for Phil to play right or left-back because he’s naturally two-footed"

.... and that's just his tackles!
