Work experience at school

I did a week at Dunlop in Washington in their "micro-electronics department" (which was a little office with some computers in). Loved it.

Mine was in Sunderland civic centre, longest week of my life. One day I had to spent deleting any files that appeared on a certain printer queue, I kid you not, and it was a green screen mainframe so nothing else to do on it.

It still happens at school. My lad is doing it this year and has applied for Williams F1 HQ, already sounds a million times better than mine

Turns out it’s William hills book makers and he read it wrong.

Did a week at Villa pop at southwick in 85(ish). My main job was sweeping the floor and guiding plastic bottles down a conveyor belt.

I just remember thinking "Some right weirdos work here, like.."
The foreman was an absolute tyrant.

Wanted to do something scientific but the careers bloke who arranged it put me in the council housing office as a filing clerk. Spent a week getting lists from people of the files they wanted to look at, fetching them and then putting them away again when they finished.

Left school and ended up working in a lab. I loved it.

Mine was at somewhere called Riverside brewery or something just next to the Alex bridge, it was awful spent all week trying to hide as all he did was shout at me that was 98.

Funnily enough we got an e-mail off my son's school saying he will be doing work experience in July. He is well into sport and we have e-mailed the Foundation Of Light to see if there is any chance he can do his work experience there🤞🤞
@rubberface is your son in Year 10?
My son is in year 9 at the same school but with his autism he can't even leave the house on his own so there's no way he will be able to do work experience.

I done mine at Ryhope Infant School, not sure if it's still there now or if they have a new school.

I had a week at roker park with all the ground staff . Had me doing loads of stuff mowing the pitch dragging a big metal frame thing over it, painting the barriers in the fulwell and even up in the commentators bit in the clock stand painting. Got to meet all the players and Viv Busby then as my final treat I got to keep loads of players kit match worn stuff and training kit and a couple of pairs of boots.

Wanted to do mine at the Crowtree Leisure Centre so I could walk around in shorts, do fuck all and look at birds in the pool. I ended up getting sent to a chemists, having to count out tablets for pensioners’ prescriptions all day
I still think some were on the take. Paid a bung to get free child labour

Went to an IT department somewhere. It was f***ing shite. It was the middle of June, 20+ degrees outside and I was put in this back room with nee windows taking hard drives out of old computers.

Sacked off any idea of wanting to work in IT after that.
