Work experience at school

Does it still happen?

What did you do for it? And how was it?

I was at a cardboard factory in south hetton. Made me realize it’s not for me

Wanted to do journalism but it was too late by the time I emailed the sports desk at the echo.

I did it at Marksys in Dalton Park, 16 years ago. According to my mate who worked there for 10 years some of them are still there and have moved on to management..

I enjoyed it to be honest. Me and the lad who I was in with are still best friends now. As we were beforehand. Was a good laugh. If I could earn what I do now, stacking shelves and putting things on a rack.. I’d do it again in a heartbeat as I imagine he would.

I was not in the class when we had to put our forms in for what we wanted to do so my best mate told the teacher I had told him what I wanted to do so he put down nursing. So I done 1 week in the hospital not at all what I wanted to do but the week was ok and I got to see some of the different departments, porters first then the reception then I was allowed to do a little in the physio department.

Lighting department at the old civic centre. Tracing plans from old vellum maps showing layouts of lighting columns and cable runs. Quite enjoyed it to be honest.

Funnily enough we got an e-mail off my son's school saying he will be doing work experience in July. He is well into sport and we have e-mailed the Foundation Of Light to see if there is any chance he can do his work experience there🤞🤞

Was meant to go to some local accounts, fell through the day before.

Only place left was the pharmacy at tunstall so had to cart my arse from hetton to tunstall every morning.

Completely irrelevant.
