I put bamboo down in my last house. Loved the look of it.
But you can't say it's hard wearing, it scratches as soon as you look at it.
It's compressed grass basically.

We have Moduleo all the way through downstairs with the exception of the main sitting room and my office. It’s very good aesthetically and quite hard wearing considering the dining area gets battered every time we move chairs around the dining table.

I don't even think bamboo is a bad choice. You can sand it 5 times, so it's still going to last forever.
