It will be argued that it’s for public safety mate.

The clubs will be covered mate; they will simply say something like 'after advice from the police.......'.

They can argue it all they want but I doubt it holds much water. If the police request the information then fair enough, but as a ST holder I wouldnt want SAFC sharing any details about me with other PL clubs. Regardless of whether it could be argued that it is in the interest of public safety, i'm not convinced there is any term in the clubs conditions, or any legal right, for them to share the information without the consent of the ST holder

The club also say that away fans cant go in the home end as it is against the terms and conditions. I have looked up their regulations and there is nothing about away fans in there (http://www.wolves.co.uk/page/GroundRegulations/0,,10307,00.html)
Obviously if pressed they would say that, in their "reasonable" opinion, any away fan could cause a nuisance or annoyance for other people and therefore under regulation 2.2 they wont allow them to enter the ground like.

Main thing is though, I think it would be worth emailing SAFC to find out 1) did they hand over ST holders details 2) who requested it (was it police or wolves) 3) where in the terms and conditions of the ST does it state that we are happy for our details to be shared with other companies and 4) if there isnt a specific term allowing them to share these details, do they have a legal right to do so and, if not, why are they doing this without seeking the permission of the ST holder

Maybe this isnt covered by the data protection act, but it would be worth the lad contacting the club for clarification

I think it is against the law for an away fan to be in the home end but also certainly against the ground Ts&Cs

As i say, its not in their ground regulations and i would be utterly astonished if it was against the law. We had everton fans in our end on monday, some of them not being too discreet, and nowt happened to them. Not sure what law you are breaking by watching a game from an end of the ground which holds fans of a team you dont support

16 "Away fans are not permitted in the home end of a BPL stadium"

Doesn't say it is illegal but I am sure I have seen something to that effect.

Lads just abit of friendly advice. I know you probably know this already and you will keep quiet but things will turn nasty on saturday especially if we go a goal down, last couple of home games there's been alot of arguments between wolves fans on wolves fans and i can see these arguments turning violent this weekend so if they spot opposition fans in our end they'll have no problems having a go. If your gonna get tickets in our end your best to stay away from south bank. Billy wright stand is best for you followed by steve bull upper.

How do Fulham get away with selling tickets in the Putney end for all - is it because it is a 'neutral' end and not a home end?

Who do you thinks to blame - manager - players - bit of both, bad luck? Been there - not nice!

Cheers mate, we got tickets for the SB upper stand , one of the ends that seems a little less populated.

Been onto the ticket office with regards them giving out information and waiting for them to get back in touch.

Yeh i know you've been there, like i said when i joined my old man is originally from durham and used to be a big sunderland fan, he took me to loads of games so i know you've had shit times to. Can remember fighting at notts county with each other last game of season, lost 3-1 but stayed up and at bury i seen sunderland fighting each other on the wooden terrace. At wolves its mad mick, spent £35 million in last 15 months on around 17 players, only usually plays 3-4 of them. Terrible tactics, no plan b, still not sorted out left back or centre midfield. If you attack us down our left like most teams do you'll beat us.

TBH I dont think SAFC should give information like that out to other clubs. I know they will say they are cooperating in the interest of safety etc, but I dont want other clubs to know if i have a ST at SAFC or not, its none of their business. If I choose to go to a game and sit in the "wrong end" then that is my choice, there is no law against it. SAFC should just say that they cant give out the names of their customers

Surely giving out information is against some data protection law. I would complain.

Nice one, keep us updated on here if you can, will be interesting to hear what they have to say about it

Is the data they accrued that sensitive? The only personal information they gained was you have a season ticket.

Both parties already had your personal data address etc.

The issue isnt really whether the data is sensitive, it is simply the fact that they shouldnt be able to confirm things like what "products" you purchase (a season ticket in this case). At its simplest form, this is one company telling another company what products someone buys. That isnt allowed- I wouldnt want Sainsburys telling Tescos that I buy a lot of a particular type of product because a) they might start bombarding me with "tailored" advertising and b) it is simply none of the other company's business what groceries I buy. Football clubs are very quick to refer to supporters as "customers", so i dont see why the sharing of data between them should be any different than the sharing of data between companies in other lines of business. Sensitive or not, people might not want any information that they have given to SAFC to be passed onto any other companies and, unless there is a term in the conditions of the ST that you have to allow information to be passed between clubs, or unless legally you cant stop it, you should be able to rest assured that this information isnt being passed

the club haven't helped the situation here

why did they take/ask for the smaller allocation? we would have easily sold 3200 for this one.

Bully9, was saying the mood will turn ugly and the Wolves fans will have a go at any Sunderland fans, in their end of the ground, if Wolves go a goal down.

I remember we played them away in 1994/5 season in a midweek Division 1game, and after the game, there were stacks of them waiting outside for us and waiting in that underpass to attack us, even though Wolves won the game 1-0

A strange bunch are Wolves fans, nowt like the friendlier Albion fans apart from the black country accent they share.

Shirely this is breaking the Data Protection Laws? Unless you've authorised them to share your details with third parties when you bought your ST.

Permissable for the prevention or detection of crime. They will argue that the exchange of information was to prevent public disorder.

He's talking shite, charvers and knackers yes, all the main lads are banned and those still going don't go in the areas mentions on the whole. Would be more careful than say York away, but no more careful than say Barnsley away. Common sense, weigh it up but it's not excatly Millwall of the 80's! As for this ticket business, Wolves probably just cottoned on to your NE address and then made up shit about our ticket office liason.

Wolves just covering their own arse, rather unsuccessfully as it has turned out. Lets say someone gets the shit kicked out of them in the Wolves end, the finger gets pointed out that they''ve knowingly sold a ticket to a Sunderland fan thereby placing profits above public safety.

I have been in at least 10 home ends in my times watching SAFC, so I'd be hypocritcal of placing blame on anyone, but it doesn't make it right though. Football supporters can be very territorial.
