I read this messageboard every day but I've seen nothing that slags off Darren Bent. Nothing at all. One or two informed contributors have noted that we play a more integrated passing game with Gyan in the team and that with Bent up front we are committed to the ball over the top into space for him to run onto, hanging onto the last defender's shoulder. When the ball is played to him with his back to goal he takes three touches and loses possession as the move breaks down. Otherwise the ball is overhit and hoofed aimlessly. Gyan's style is to feet and that produces a more pleasing & productive pattern of play. The two players (Bent & Gyan) have yet to gel as a force, in the way Gyan & Wellbeck have done.

Nails it for me.

Bent is a "last ball" type of player, it's not his fault when our players try to make it their first ball.

For some games he may not be first pick anymore. Is that a bad thing? If Gyan was fully fit, he would have been on the bench on Monday, if they are all fit on Saturday it will be a tough call.

bent and gyan up front. simple as that

It isn't though. There is no way Danny Welbeck could be dropped on Saturday. He is bang on form and been a massive influence in the last two games.

tough, if bents fit then he should play. no way in hell should a near 30 goal striker be sat on the bench in favour of a kid on loan. no f***ing way

I think it's great that we could consider it and I would. However, I'm not a premier league manager and Bruce might side with you on this.

its great welbeck is doing well but at the end of the day hes most likely going back to man utd. i certainly wouldnt drop a proven top quality goalscorer to accomodate a loanee

I would say this club's long term interests are best served by forging a partnership between Bent and Gyan. Nice problem to have, mind.

world class = ronaldo messi Fabregas etc

bent is a very good goal scorer
messi and ronaldo,,,yes. fabregas is an excellent player but is not in the "world class" bracket of the other two
