Winkles and Welks

A buck whelk is a huge, chewy whelk. It’s different.

The jocks probably do call them buckies though.
I know what a buck whelk is marra.
We used to call them "mermaids nipples" - when the Kershaws man came round the pubs and clubs.
All I am doing is explaining to the uninitiated what the Scots call winkles.
We in the North East of England refer to them as willicks, the Scots refer to them as buckies.
The Jocks also refer to crabs as "partans" - another colloquialism.

Good good.

Went last year, certainly wasn’t the amount I remember getting as a bairn. Used to go with my Nanna and come back with bucketloads, was lucky to fill half a container last time.
Not the best time of year atm but when we went around Christmas time we filled a carrier bag in no time.

Seahouses was topper for wilick picking. You could scoop them up with both hands
Welks are buck welks in SR6. The big ones that rumour has it would send you loopy
It's obviously winkles like. Our lass calls them willicks ffs.
She's a keeper and obviously the intelligent one in your house
