Saw him and Don Estelle in panto at the Empire in the 80s, he was great.

I saw him in Woolies in fawcett st dressed as lofty signing and selling his records. After his carreer dived he would set up a stall in a shopping centre to sell records and sing to passers by. He hated the political correctness that meant it ain't hot mum didn't get repeated which would have given him an income. A sad end to a life really.

Exactly this. Just heard the actor who played the puff on the radio today saying how they all found it incredible the series can and is played all around the world today but the pc brigade won’t let it played here where it was made.
Incredible that they will show absolutely anything... naked dates...lasses shitting themselves all in the name of reality tv but won’t show a genuinely funny show.

Indeed he was brilliant,

though it must also be said that each and every one of those characters played their part to perfection, which was what made it such a great series.
