How can you be annoyed with the Trott decision but happy with the Wood one? What has Wood achieved in the first class arena over the last season or two?

Its a squad so even if Trott doesn't play, he is a hell if a back up to have. A small tour that will test his mental health and if he comes through it great. If not, his international career is over and everyone can move on

Happy Wood is in because he's a Durham player - not saying he deserves to be in on form. If you want to debate that then we can do. However Wood is/could be the future in international cricket IMO. Trott isn't.

He's a good backup but again, hasn't got age on his side. If rather see England picking blokes with a future as backup, someone like Taylor for example who can potentially grow into the role.

f***ing hell mate, you normally talk some sense, but this is absolute utter shite.

Trott is an international class batsman, one of the best in the country by an absolute mile, as long as he is mentally fit, he has to play.

The bit in bold is just laughable

The bit in bold might've been laughable if you remembered to actually make it bold.....

Anyway, Trott WAS an international class batsman. His last tour he looked like an amateur and that's all we have to go off. You're only as good as your last performance they reckon.

Is he over his mental issues? Who knows, one thing I do know though is bringing Trescothick back too quickly didn't work out very well and having read his book - he says it's something that you never truly overcome.

So maybe with that in mind the ECB should've ended Trott's international career like they did KP.

Personally I wouldn't do that, but I would want to see him playing a full season of county cricket first. Perhaps a few Lions games this summer before the Ashes and then make a decision.

Delighted for Lyth, he deserves it. Surprised that Rashid got in and that Ballance kept his place though. Was also hoping Hales would go.

Six Yorkshire players, wow. You'd never guess the Nottinghamshire manager selected this squad would you....

Trott is indeed excellent at cashing in against average sides IMO. That last Australian series you mention, the Aussies were all over the shop. Johnson couldn't hit the cut strip. As soon as anything gets remotely above 90mph with a hint of accuracy the white flag was out.

f***ing hell

thats one of the most outrageous statements I have heard on here

I really don't think half the people on here even like England or want them to win

You're turning into a bit of a patronising arse on this thread fella

well people need to stop talking shite mate and it would help

every bit of success and ability England players have had has been excused away and ridiculed

as I say half the people on here seem to enjoy England doing badly

Are you just trying to outdo the "outrageous statements"?

Why does commenting on the reality of what we are saying in front of our eyes, underpinned by cold hard results, equate to 'not wanting England to win'?
Did you see the simpering surrender in the Ashes? I'm still f***ing foaming about it. They have a long way to go..if you want to wrap yourself in a warm blanket of beating India in England, that's fine. But we all know what the real contest is, and we are way off that.

No I think we will lose, but they have better players than us currently

It is this "found out" shite this is ridiculous, Trott has been "found out" because he struggled on one tour, his runs in Australia previously apparently don't count because it was agains a shite attack. What about his runs in India then and all around the world?

Surely that means Kholi has been "found out" as he literally can't get a run in England against Anderson

Australia\s batsmen were "found out" in Pakistan last year when they got absolutely hammered

Players struggle playing away from home, it happens to everybody, there is hardly any away test series wins these days.

I just find it funny that everytime someone points to success England have had, there is always an excuse, literally everytime it is brought up, ludicrous

Iam not bothered about Kholi or anyone else. I'm focussing on England, I never want them to lose but I like to be honest in my assessment. Away from home is very difficult, it's a long tour, always has been. I get all of that. Heaven knows, we've sent better sides to Australia and lost. My problem is in watching a side totally capitulate, and then trying to insult everyone's intelligence with ill judged sound bites like "we didn't execute our plans correctly'. They were cowering wrecks, man.

Yeah I totally agree with the last part, but I am responding to people saying the likes of Trott got "found out" absolute shite.

According to this place our win against India was pointless because they had given up, our win in Australia didn't count because it was a shite attack. That is cricket.

We won our last series 3-1 against India, it is something to build on, are we a good side? no. But it is going to be a slow progress.

I just wish people would stop re-writing history to suit their argument.

A player is "found out" early on in his career, not after he has scored 100 after 100, been named ICC player of the year, won series all around the world.

Regarding the series against India, I do recognise that we could only beat the team in front of us, so on one level, it was a professional job. We cannot deny, however, that the Aussies will be a different prospect....all Iam saying is we have to get a lot better. I don't expect a big turn around....but would be happy for you to hurl abuse if I'm wrong !

Apologies, I agree with most of that mate.

I'd just like to go on record by saying that win against India gave me great pleasure. You won't find me downplaying how good the performances were. Coming back from 1-0 down to absolutely annihilate India in the final three Tests of the summer was very impressive IMO.
