He links the play better and the goal he scored and chance he missed mayenda would have been nowhere near, mayenda has done a good job but it's the getting in front of a defender to get a shot away which is the difference between the 2

Mayenda will hold the ball up better than Wilson. Wilson will pop up in and around the box and put away half chances but won’t bring others into play the same way. 2 very different outlets which is good for us if they are both fit. Both will turn out canny players I think
 
Good goal from a near-post run yesterday. Went close with the same trick earlier. That looks like a strikers instinct to me.
It is a while since we had two strikers competing for the shirt, and long may it continue.
We look great going forward with the creative kids and Reg's positive tactics.
We've lost twice this season to individual errors, both from players that are usually on the teamsheet if fit. Cut that out and we will give it a go this season.

Aye thats only half a chance for me as well. Had a similar one earlier go just wide. Showing he can beat his man to the front post. Good sign

😂 aye ive just put similar. Will have 3 with connolly. Can see a lot of players going out on loan in jan, even moving on for some cash maybe
 
Thought at times yesterday we missed Mayenda’s non-stop pressing and his physical presence

In the first half Watford’s agricultural approach put Wilson off his game

Wilson is a class act though and hopefully he will get better protection from other refs

Mundle had another very good game though so not sure there is a case for dropping him from the left side

AND if Romaine should get injured I would like to see Tommy Watson given a few starts on left having seen what he can do at U21 level

If Wilson plays I’d let him play across the full width of the pitch, hanging off the shoulder of the last defender
 
Lots to work with there I'd say. Some good movement and a goal threat and was willing to drop short and link but then turn and stretch them by going in behind.

Its takes the pressure off Mayenda which is what we need. Good competition for places once everyone is fit!
 
I think the idea that he can't play CF should be put to bed now. His movement for the goal was exactly what you want from a CF. holds the ball up well anarl. good competition for Mayenda

Don't discount Mayenda's assists and general pressing and hold up play though. He got two assists at Portsmouth and arguably a third as their goalie couldn't hold his shot, which the CB hoofed off their fullback for the o.g.
Isidor looked sharp down there when he came on too, so horses for courses and shrewd substitutions called for.
Their different styles give Reg a choice and a headache!
