Yes Bob Stokoe was on our road too! My old man tells me all about it, I was too young to remember sadly!

There must be a whole generation of us who were taken to Willie Watson's to buy our football gear. I remember my old man being very starry eyed also as we made our purchases.

I was on my own but just speaking to the first professional football I'd ever met was at the time great....I had a pint with Bobby Mitchell in a pub in york when Sunderland went to play a pre season friendly there a few years later..

The time that I spent having a pint and chatting to him (my second only time then speaking with a lad who had played professionally in the North East) was very nice...At least both he and Mr Watson took time to speak to a young'un, nowadays most players would run a mile while they are playing but come retirement?????
