Will Still (managerial suggestion)

Wouldn't be too arsed if it's 'underwhelming' on paper, to be honest. The last two haven't been the names everyone wanted but they both did excellent jobs and exactly what was needed/expected of them - arguably excelled in what was needed/expected.

Maybe that's me being naive enough to trust the club and what they're doing, whilst others could argue we've been lucky, but that's just me.

This appointment is particularly important though. We need a good head coach to move us up the league or keep us in the playoffs. If we fail to get promoted this season, our excellent core of players will go and then it's another rebuild with a mediocre head coach.

So let me get this straight...

By all accounts - Will Still, who - at least in PR terms! - is the hottest young manager in Europe has tried to crow-bar his way into the Sunderland job - really does seem like he fancies it...

And we are the ones f***ing him off?

This better be good. That's two Farioli-like hot properies, in Still and Hellberg, who the media are insinuating are NOT our top target.

On top of that, we have a very capable caretake in the dug-out who isn't a contender...

This better be good.
Where are you getting this from?

Will Still said: "Unless Stade de Reims decides to fire me, because we lose matches and you never know in football... My intention is to concentrate on the Lens match and try to win it. Then concentrate on the Le Havre match and try to win it then try to finally take advantage of some time off and come back after the break to try to qualify for the Coupe de France. That's my intention and my desire today."

If ya take away the word 'today' at the end of that its set in stone he isnt going anywhere. Add in the word 'today' and he could change his fuckin mind tomorrow and be on his way!!!

Its as if he is purposefully muddying the waters!

I want to give KLD the benefit of the doubt. This appointment really should be a real statement of intent and an indicator of how ambitious he is about getting us promoted back to where we belong.
A stop gap or interim appointment will not do 3 years into a 5 year plan. Dodds or an out of work merry go round coach is really not what we need at this time.
Will reserve judgement for now. He may well unearth a gem. The wait for hopefully some positive news goes on.

Beale hasn't even be mentioned before now ... so this is either way off or were panicking.....hellberg has signed on with hammerby

Guesses from everywhere it seems. It’s on, it’s off, it’s on, it’s off.
A pure guess on my part, is that he might have played it down today, as he could have said to us ok I’m interested, agree compensation with Reims and we’ll take it from there. He’s onto a decent thing there and might not want to rock the boat. If he puts it back on the club it makes him look more loyal. He can say well I only left cos the club gave me permission to do so. As opposed to taking the AN route.

Exactly - fair chance he's just playing the game and/or they're waiting for the winter break. We won't know for sure sadly until something is announced, seems we're watertight with this stuff these days.

So as expected, Will Still has strung us along to force assurances out of Reims and is staying there as he planned all along?
He'll be away from Reims at the first available opportunity. If not us it'll be someone else. I think he feels he's taken them as far as he can and don't think he sees his future there.
