Will Still (managerial suggestion)

And has lost the last three games
He had a bad run last season and earlier this season but went on very good ones afterwards. I don’t know enough about their current circumstances ie injuries, suspensions etc to opine if he’s all that or not but he hasn’t been a disaster for them that’s apparent.

I'd be very, very surprised if it was kneejerk. Especially as every other big decision they have made has seemed thought out and has benefited the club.
If it isn't kneejerk you have to assume there was more discontent behind the scenes with Mowbray and the board.
Up until the Boro game he wasn't doing too badly.
Why have the Mods closed the Michael Beale Thread?
Moved to the betting sub forum I think as odds were mentioned in the OP.

But it just seems very surprising that such a big decision was made without, what looks like, a clear, robust plan in place to replace him.

I get what you're saying, but I'd prefer them to be robust in their search/interview process. It's easier for them to be so whilst Dodds is picking up 3 points every game too. Had he lost the his first couple games I might not be feeling as relaxed about it all, but for now I'm happy to wait and see what happens; trust the process etc.

Could you give examples please of when a manager has been sacked in mid-season and then instantly replaced.

What timeframe are you allowing between Mowbray sacking and a replacement?

I agree. My take is that they had a list of possible successors that they would be happy to bring in once Mowbray left. That they weren’t talking to any of them before Mowbray left (which I personally think is right). And that they are happy to take time to make the right appointment for the club going forward now that Mowbray has left.

Putting it into context, the closest club that is doing similar to us is Brighton. They “boast” that they have replacements for every role in mind at all times. It still took 10 days between the announcement that they’d agreed compensation for Potter going to Chelsea to the announcement that De Zerbi would be their next head coach.

OTR reckon the players have been asked about what they thought of Dodds taking the role and they replied positively.

Sounds a complete mess tbh if we’re now asking the players for their opinion on head coaches.

How long do you think it should take to convince someone to move to another country?
Everything should’ve been done before the sacking. Convincing someone to move to another country shouldn’t be needed, being in talks is an indication of willingness to move unless as has been mentioned he’s playing SAFC off against his current club.
Hes English. He’s worked in England, Belgium and France that I know of already.

 That’s like us sacking Mowbray and appointing Neil!

Great reply though!
I agree mate. And I wouldn’t want us to do something like that.

But I would have thought that they would have a robust succession plan in place and that they would already have tested the waters with agents etc around potential targets and identified stumbling blocks such as release clauses, whether a target fancies a move to England and the Championship etc .

It just appears that that hasn’t been the case.

Doddos said in his presser before WBA that hadn’t seen any of the hierarchy as they had been busy interviewing. Here we are a week later an it appears they are no further forward.
