Will Still (managerial suggestion)

Just over a year ago he was basically in Doddsy's position at a shit French team. I'm not sure about him tbh, flavour of the month but done nowt really and zero experience in England.

I like the potential appointment of Will Still, but in agreement to your post and in defence of Dodds, if he is as highly rated a coach as we hear and have seen the past couple of games, why could he not enjoy a similar path? Dodds at 37 now is no different to coaches like Still just over a year ago or the likes of Carrick who just took a first job, or McKenna at Ipswich as examples.

Steve Smelt was a highly rated coach, read it on here.

Very fair points, i suppose there’s a few replies to that:
- some coaches are better off as precisely that rather than head coach or manager.
- will still has proven he can step up with Reims versus Doddsy’s two games thus far.
- he speaks French which, given that’s where we mainly seem to recruit from, is a big asset.

It’s a nice problem for us to have though, Doddsy is doing a brilliant job and the players love him. Of course, that tends to change when you start leaving them out which coaches never have to take responsibility for. So it wouldn’t be like that forever.

Was my old uni lecturer was Steve. Top man. Not sure if Tony Cotton was a fan though.

Valid. If we can't secure Still, i would just let Dodds carry on as interim for a while, while we take our time in our search. No need to label it to the end of the season either after 2-3 games. I'd like to see him perform over at least 10-12 games before confirming anything, and then if that showed that he was ready, start talking.

Reluctantly agree with this approach. Don't really want to entertain the thought of us conducting a thorough Head Coach recruitment process, interviewing multiple candidates and then settling on Dodds.

I really thought the club would have had feelers out and a plan in place before pulling the trigger on Mowbray.

Really disappointing if we either don't appoint Still or didn't have a clear idea of who was available and interested in taking over.

Dodos is already leaving some out.

I totally agree. I don’t want Dodds long term but that might change as games go by but we definitely shouldn’t appoint someone for the sake of it. If we have Dodds for 6 months, fine by me.
