Will Still - Lens Manager

Hope we get either Still or Jansen, if KLD was serious in the statement he sent out about them learning from last season then Rosenior is not the answer, his stats at Hull from 78 games were about 34% win, about 35% draw and about 31% loss in the championship. Pascal Jansen had 58% win at AZ over 162 games in the Dutch top league, Still had a 38% win at Reims over 65 games, his stats a little better than Roseniors but in the French top league. If it is Rosenior an underwhelming appointment then I feel it will be Groundhog day and we will be looking for another manager in no time.

Did you just completely miss the fact it was reported Will Still has chosen Lens after concerns over the budget and staff at Sunderland, or?

Didn't know it was confirmed at Lens, haven't seen anything yet that 100% confirms it. Was it a reliable source or journo who reported that and the other reasons?

I see one of the names Brighton is looking at and working on work permit for is a 31 year old with only 55 games as a manager.

Makes you wonder why more clubs in England don’t seem to be taking Still seriously. Norwich interviewed him but even then they were already sorting a work permit for the guy they wanted.

As much of a daft kernt i'll look with me ginger pubes, Pascal sounds like a little rascal. Probably more appealing in all fairness.

I think one of the things to remember in all this is we frequently ruin managers, and often our better ones tend to be people like Keane who go onto prove awful at other clubs.

It's the Jason Steele effect.

All I hope is they have properly done their homework, and whoever it is 'gets it.' that appears to be the key.

Reid did great at SAFC (and city before that tbf) but didn’t do too clever after that

I think that was the changing landscape of the game though, with all the arsene wenger healthy living stuff coming in

It only occurred to me the other day that it is as long since Reid as the 66 world cup was from when I first started following Sunderland. And that felt ages ago at the time and in black and white and stuff! When players like Paul McGrath and Gazza could have a skinful the night before a match and still be heralded for their performance...
