Will Still - Lens Manager

Not sure it's that difficult to win games in Holland mind. Most of the teams are rubbish.

They beat PSV 4-0 though. That was one of the criticisms of Beale at Rangers, they could beat the other teams but got beat of Celtic every time. Also they got through to the Europa League SF beating some decent teams along the way. He did that while making a profit on player sales each year.

I got the impression that one was a mutual decision, could well be wrong of course. No doubt there will be lots of examples of managers failing and doing better elsewhere, but I feel expectations will be higher here and the job is going to be tougher than managing Hull.

I do think Rosenior speaks well, but I don't think it'll get the fans excited.
I'm not massively in favour but the failed at X club because they've been sacked is a tad silly tbh. The bloke who has just won La Liga and The Champions League has quite a few sackings on his CV

AZ are one of the 'rubbish' teams though I think.

I mean, I have next to no knowledge of dutch football as I don't watch it but I think he did fairly well at a club that isn't fancied at all, and he did quite well in Europe iirc.

I was hoping we'd poach a manager this time around, someone who was performing well or had some recent success, whether relative or otherwise (although Still would have been an interesting appointment). Hull fans seem to rate him anyhow, could end up getting lucky with his sacking if indeed he gets the job.

There is an AZ fan otr who says he plays plodding slow shite. Like to play a number 10 who can't dribble, pass or shoot but is defensively solid. Can't break teams down. Can't adapt; tactically inflexible. Didn't read well.
AZ scored at least 3 goals in a fair few games Jansen managed this season before his sacking like. And looking at some of the play on YouTube has a lot of bodies quite high up the pitch.

I think that’s a stark contrast to how deep we were under Beale and Dodds tbf.

Been listening to a couple of hull city podcasts out of curiosity. What I gleaned:

Pros
Phenomenal at developing players
Away form fantastic
Big clubs trusted him with their assets
Methodical football
Apparently some of the best football they have ever played
Games lost by fine margins partially because they had no strikers
Fans genuinely gutted he was sacked

Cons
Terrible home form
Slow football
Inexperienced

The more I hear it sounds very, very like a younger Mowbray. His sacking was the other side of the coin we faced when Mowbray got us into the playoffs. If he had have finished just outside the playoffs, I think we would have sacked him.

Sliding doors.

I think if the pros you state were correct the owner would not have sacked him for narrowly missing out. Obviously there was more to it than that.
