Will Still - Lens Manager

I get the bloke's a wholehearted, fairly dependable CB. He played for Wycombe as a midfielder.

We had a striker, Richard Naylor, at Ipswich. Scored for us at Wembley in the play-off final in 2000, fairly dependable, wholehearted lad, never really likely to rip up trees but could do a job. And we had him playing in defence following an injury and he did OK, nothing earth-shattering, certainly not a Rio Ferdinand or a Sergio Ramos, probably not even up to Jason De Dos, but he was alright.

And he kept playing at CB and we had a season of it. And, as the season went on, his limitations became obvious until fans started commenting on why we never seemed to just purchase a Centre Back.

He was fine as long as our limits were mid-to-lower-Championship finishes. But there comes a point when you question just why we stuck with him for so long. Especially as, like all fans, you want to see the team make some kind of progress beyond fourteenth in the Championship.
The fact we finished so low had nothing to do with O’Nein playing cb - we had one of the best defences on the league.

It’s why speakman need removing, he’s putting his own interests before what’s good for the club
He’ll be absolutely gutted dodds was as hapless as he was in the role
If it’s true he put the block in Henderson coming back here last year, he should be sacked for that.

The former England captain wanting to return home and fill a position in the team we had a gaping hole and needed experience. Criminal.

This club will never progress with him and Dodds in position.

I’m sorry like but we haven’t gone all in to get him. If he doesn’t want Dodds and proctor there then we would have got rid of them. Quietly becoming Bracewell & Stockdale all over again.
How do you know that they've said they have too be there? Pure guess.

I don’t think it’s money it’s providing the right environment for the bloke to have a fighting chance to do his job.

If he can’t bring his own staff in because we are more concerned about Mike Dodds career progression or Speakmans fixation with kids his career is going to take a Beale.

It’s an important move for the lad. He would be mad to take the SAFC job in the current circumstances.
Again, how do you know he can't bring his own staff in? We don't know that either way.

I think they need to get it over and done with and move onto transfers in and out
I'm not disagreeing that they need to get on with appointing someone but I'm not certain they'll manage to get the right person in a week, assuming as it looks that Still is not happening.

It depends who their other choices are and how they respond/have responded. I've no idea what the terms offered are or who we've approached so we'll see what this week brings.

Agree
They put jobes development ahead of any other player and good of side this year, nothing against the kid btw but it was clear as day
Same with his mate dodds he give him three months in a job to prove he could do it full time, make no mistake
Mowbray and Neil were shrewd operators at the level fans trusted them both, he’s seen them both off due to his ways
The way he’s gone silent since Beale left tells you everything about his character as well, right snide, interviews galore when the praise was dished out last year

Atleast we've given him a deadline and if not him we can move onto someone else and appointment them by the end of the week
Okay we will extend it until next week

Okay we will extend it until the end of June

Okay we will extend it until the end of pre-season

We huffed and we puffed but we couldn't get the deal over the line so Mike Dodds has been handed a 5 year deal to be our new head coach.

Truly cant comprehend why this has been allowed to drag on this long.

Over a year without a proven striker, 3 months or whatever it is now without a manager. The unwavering desire to remove any ounce of experience from the team. The whole thing is a complete mess. If the owner gave anything of a toss, speakman would of been sacked ages ago

I have it on good authority that Mogga thought Dodds was a snake.

Morning team, long weekend of DIY done and dusted for me and back to graft. Had time to read but not to post. Am I up to date in thinking some think we've gone all out for Still and are awaiting a final call or is it dead and buried and we're going for some no mark from Scotland instead? Congrats to all who contributed on the amazing 1000 pages landmark. Doesn't feel fair without our good mate @rubberface here mind who seemingly is still unjustly incarcerated.

For once, this one isn’t actually on the club all that much.

But it doesn’t fit the narrative so everyone’s KLD out.

They’ve literally ripped up part of the model (that people have been shouting about for a while) just to try and get still in.
But having to take weeks to negotiate especially when one of the issues is Dodds is on the club

That's if that was an issue.
I think it's safe to say there hasn't been much given away about it, it's all hearsay.
The issues are probably, imo, somewhere in the middle of the 2 sides that's been reported

‘Both Mike the players and myself learned a lot last season’ ‘we know the areas that need to be addressed and be assured we will be working hard to put those right’ ‘it’s now time to get behind Mike and the players for what we hope will be an exciting season’
