Will Leicester title win be biggest shock in football history?

Different age, the ability of rich clubs to simply buy the best players from around the world is massive now. For a team like Leicester to beat them all in the same season makes this stand head and shoulders above the others.

I've spoken to a couple of Leicester fans and they seem to think that both Forest and Ipswich outweighs this. I don't know if that's the general feeling in the midlands mind.

The gulf in money between them and those around them coupled with where they were last season means yes, it will be

Holland and Ajax going from a footballing backwater to a world power house in the 70's changing the way we play football.

Feyenoord winning the European Cup in 1970.

Celtic winning the European Cup in 1967 with a squad of local players.

Denmark winning Euro 92 with only 2 weeks preparation.

Greece winning Euro 2004.

Iraq winning the Asian Cup in 2007.

All cup wins. And the older cups didn't actually require you to play that many rounds (Celtic played only 5 teams). And of course, during an era when it was possible for smaller sides to compete.

This is, to my mind, the biggest miracle in football history. It has happened at a time when pretty much everyone on the planet was in agreement that it could no longer happen. Leicester have basically done what 99% of sane, unbiased fans would have said was utterly impossible.

for me its the biggest, the fact its over a full 38 games, not a few in a cup etc...with the millions being spent leicester has no chance to compete with their spending and they were in the relegation zone this time last year

f***ing incredible

but now every f***ing tom dick and harry of a football club will think they can win the league at the start of every season

I wouldn't go as far as saying the greatest in football history. Montpelier did it in France a few years ago and Rostov could win the Russian league this season. I know their leagues aren't as strong as the Premier League but they were in the same situation as Leicester.

Has to be biggest football shock in this country. Will it happen again? Could WBA, Crystal Palace or us pull this off?

Its the amount of money the big clubs have in this country that make this more remarkable.

I'm amazed at the jealousy and arrogance of some fans, not many mind, but a few.

Its a remarkable achievement and they deserve all the credit for it

Some people still calling a fair few of their players shit clearly haven't learnt anything, 1 from their team success, and 2 from our relative failures. It isn't all about big money names, and this proves it.

Haven't they lost like 5 times in 45 games or something?

That is title winning form in any season

Which is brilliant.

They won't, but times will aspire higher, and I think the points tally will be less to win the league now, and will see more points spread out.

The league is getting stronger and stronger every year, which is why I don't get the over the top criticism of Wenger and LVG.

Only 1 team can win the league, it doesn't make everyone else a failure who needs sacking.

Wes Morgan and Robert Huth are not great footballers but are great defenders, they are not asked to make pretty sideway passes they are just told to head it, boot it in row z or upfield.

We play a simple system, you have the ball, we nick of you and bomb on or we nick the ball and hit it long to Vardy

The two full backs very rarely venture in the oppositions half, so basically we are saying you have to break us down but also be ready if you lose the ball.

It is without doubt the most effective system there is and I'm just glad we have the personnel to execute it.

Kante is the best ball winning midfielder I've ever seen and Danny Drinkwater is finally doing what we knew he could do.

People go on about this super league and to be honest it's lucky that us and Spurs have finally ended the 4 team domination, else you could say well it's the same 4 teams that might as well join an elite league.
Your tactics seem to have changed? Gone from out scoring teams at start of season to grinding out one nil wins? (Well, until sunday!)

But the finances are the same in all leagues. Leicester spending £7m on Ozaski is like Montpeiler spending £1.2m on Utaka. The big clubs in England could spend £20m on player we no hassle just like in France at the time the big clubs could spend £10m no problem on a player. That's why people get such joy out of things like this. I'm not belittling what Leicester have done. I just don't it's the biggest shock in football history. It's up there alright.

Not as strong and nowhere near as rich. Half of the Top 10 richest clubs on the planet are teams that Leicester had to beat to win the league. Plus Spurs who are 13th.

Itl be the best thing thats happened to the Premier League good luck to them amazing story.

But Leicester would earn and spend more than most other teams in the smaller leagues. Leicester spending £7m on a player is like Rostov spending £2m. Rostov would have to beat Zenit, CSKA, Lokomotiv and Rubin Kazan to the title. They aren't short of a few bob. Both are equally impressive and both should celebrated.

Just shows you that when it comes down to it, it is still 11 v 11.

Fair enough you can buy a player for 50 million, but he is still human, and when you are shopping in that market, the price almost becomes inflated, as there are so few teams which can pay that.

Hard to describe exactly what I mean, but a player can only be so good, no matter how much they cost. The gap can always been minimised.

They should, but it just isn't as good as Leicester, it just isn't.
