Will Leicester title win be biggest shock in football history?

Football has changed..was never easy to win the title but it was easier for teams such as Forrest, Leeds. Liverpool and Ipswich who'd been promoted recently to win it than it is now, given all the money that the top four teams have received over the last decade.

Can't think of a bigger upset..the league is different from cups..domestic European or world....win six or seven games and miracles can happen..win the league and you are the best team over nine months

its just pure bitterness and jelousy, nothing else, some very sad people on here who have no time for any other team or thier sucess trying twist and turn any excuse as to why they are top.

they are top for a reason. they are a great side

Really?

To go from fighting off relegation to winning any league is stunning, in this league it's basically impossible.

It's not football, it's big business.

Def the biggest title shock in history.

As a miserable old bastard I say everything great in sport, music, filum and TV happened before 1990....and of course I am usually right.

Cloughies achievements with Derby and Forest were obviously legendary, but this Leicester story tops them imo. Purely and simply because it is a totally different set-up nowadays.

People are talking like they have won it they have man Utd and Chelsea to play

Don't believe this. If they are doping then I highly doubt it's on a level any higher than the rest of the teams in the PL. Doping will increase your energy and recovery but it will not increase your skill and composure on the ball. It will not increase your killer instinct and ability to stick the round thing in the onion bag. Doping might give you a boost but over 38 games it will not cover the cracks in your game that prevent your team from crossing the finish line first. Leicester and Ranieri have been absolutely fantastic this season and fair play to them.

Cannot think of a bigger achievement- they came like a shot completely out of the blue. It was so fast that even in January the top teams hadn't quite cottoned on to what was happening and there was no attempt in the transfer windows to unsettle them and pick their team apart- I think if Fergie had been around his phone would have been very busy in January! ;)
I agree with you mate but I was talking about the "but".... Look at Tiger a lot of "buts" after his majors in golf....just making a point. Plus Forest winning the European Cup was amazing......

Villa came from nowhere to win the title in '81. Ipswich in '62 and Forest in '78 were both favourites to go down, like Leicester, the seasons they won it. It's just that the media was a million miles away from the saturation coverage football gets these days.

Oh, and Derby in '72.

People mentioning Forest's Euro cup wins seem to forget that in that era, if you were the English entry you had a pretty good chance (almost nailed on) of winning the thing.

The hard job was actually becoming English champions, and it was much easier for a provincial club to build a team back in those days. These days players' heads are turned, the dummy is spit out and they are gone.

Not if we find out later doping was involved...look at the Liverpool player is it just one or many more to come???
Doors will be closing. It's the end of the season and teams won't want to risk it. Any chance of catching them has gone already.

To answer the question. Yes, this is the biggest shock in sport. They were nearly relegated last season. People had them wrote off.
I said it before Athletico Madrid winning the league was impressive but they're a decent team and would be on par with Spurs winning it. Leicester winning is on par with Malaga winning the league. it's one of the biggest victories in the modern age

Just finishing top 4 would have been an all-time achievement. But this year was up for grabs with all of the big boys either disappointing or just plain shite at the same time. Spurs and Liverpool really missed a golden opportunity. With this wake up call we'll probably see City, Chelsea, Man U and Arsenal back in the top 4 or 5 next season and for the foreseeable future.

I agree I am just saying but if we find out later through books and interviews down the road. Someone caught 3-4 years down the road doubt sets in.....if clean it clearly is the story since Nott'm Forest European Cup dominance

A few years down the line donesnt change this moment. Leicester fans still watch their team lift the cup, still watch them (potentially) line up agains Barca in the CL. Even if any cheating was found out, Spurs will have already missed out on that top spot, they will have missed that money, that title. Being given it by default won't replace that open top but driving through the hundreds of thousands of people.

Wes Morgan and Robert Huth are not great footballers but are great defenders, they are not asked to make pretty sideway passes they are just told to head it, boot it in row z or upfield.

We play a simple system, you have the ball, we nick of you and bomb on or we nick the ball and hit it long to Vardy

The two full backs very rarely venture in the oppositions half, so basically we are saying you have to break us down but also be ready if you lose the ball.

It is without doubt the most effective system there is and I'm just glad we have the personnel to execute it.

Kante is the best ball winning midfielder I've ever seen and Danny Drinkwater is finally doing what we knew he could do.

People go on about this super league and to be honest it's lucky that us and Spurs have finally ended the 4 team domination, else you could say well it's the same 4 teams that might as well join an elite league.

Are you mad?
If not you know fuck all about football.e

Clough broke English transfer records a few times at Derby. At Forest Shilton was the most expensive GK in world history.

The pairing of Huth & Morgan is very like the pairing of Burns n Lloyd mind you.......if Morgan had been a CF and both had been piss head nutters.

The worst XI in history to win the league ? Most their players will be at Derby or Burnely in a year or 2 or back in the championship with Leicester

Simpson, Morgan, Huth, Drinkwater, Albrighton title winners :lol:
