Will Leicester title win be biggest shock in football history?

Ipswich's achievement in winning the title in 1962 was incredible. They had only entered the Football League in 1938 and been in the League for only 17 seasons. They had only been promoted from the Third Division South in 1957. They won the league title in their first ever season in the top flight. Two seasons later they were relegated.
Nice story about the Cobbolds (posh former owners of ITFC) I heard - they didn't believe sacking the manager was the act of a gentleman, so they just left Alf and Bobby alone and the rest is history. Might be bollox, I like to believe it.

Aye. I'm half happy about it, as seeing the Russian obliarchs and the oil sheikh's fucked over is a real treat, yet I'm massively jealous of a fuck all club in a fuck all city with little interest in football winning the league.

It's a massive conflict to me, mentally.

That's what people would be saying about us if we were in their position.

This tops all of them. One of the favourites for relegation going on and actually wining the league? Don't think that's ever happened before and may never happen again.

Hadaway and shite man. Football is the be all and end all for us.

A 15 year old cockney called Tarquin, that's been raised on EPL, sky sports and it's shite propaganda might think that.

I've heard or read similar. Mr Cobbold didn't stand in the way of Mr Robson taking the England job but it hurt both parties IIRC - a bygone era yet in real terms not that last night ago.

Forest winning back to back European Cups is bigger.

Surely entering the competition as English champions meant they were recognised as being pretty handy to begin with? Not demeaning the achievement by any stretch but they didn't come out of nowhere, they'd won the English league a few months previous.

Leicester were several thousand to one to win the league and over the last 8 months they've go to the top and stayed there. It's a monumental achievement.

One oligarch, one oil Sheikh... But I´m sure Leicester as a city is rather interested right now
