Will Leicester title win be biggest shock in football history?

Problies not on a par but just wondering was Blacknurn's win out of the blue or were they in the mix for a while? I can't remember but they've certainly sunk since then eh?

In the seventies Dennis Law scored a goal for City that relegated Man U and they came back up the next year and won the league the year after. I may have made that up.

As for revenue, the premier may be more equitable than other Jonny foreigner leagues but I still don't see any time soon when we'll be able to afford dozens of players on our books farmed out to other teams the way Chelsea do it.

Aside from my seething jealousy I'm grudgingly happy for Leicester. It gives a tiny shred of pathetic hope that we might be able to do likewise one day. ITHICS!

It's up there though.. I would say Bradford getting to the league cup final is one of the biggest shocks in probably 20 years and up there with the achievement of Greece winning the Euros.
It been a longer more uncertain slog than both of those examples, to keep up the level of intensity they have all season has been a sight to behold tbh

Cannot think of anything that trumps it, it is an obscene achievement given the way money talks in this division and the shoe string that side was put together on. When I see them lift that trophy I have to say a little of my faith in the magic of great game will be restored.

To think they were all but relegated last year at this time...

It's quite miraculous.

Built that squad over 3 years and spent a fortune doing it.

Derby under Clough were prolly about 50/1 to win the league
What's odds for to do with it?

If Leicester were only 1000/1 would it have made any difference or made it less of an achievement? It's stupid give odds out like that and it's insulting.

It's the story behind these big shocks that make it. Derby were a tin pot club from the midlands pissing about in the second division. Clough took them from div.2 also rans to league champions. Over taken Liverpool and Leeds who were to of the best time in Europe at the time. He did it again with Forest.

It just feels... Well... Wrong. Bottom of the league last year, a VERY average team on paper and.... It just doesn't add up. I just can't understand it.

Maybe I'm just bitter. But Danny f***ing Drinkwater ffs. It's like us winning the league with Dean Whitehead man.

-Mainly free of injuries
-Chelsea on strike for 3 months
-Man City announcing a new manager mid season
-Man Utd being in disarray for most of the season
-Arsenal being Arsenal
- Mags stepped aside

...all helped, just happened to be Leicester who got their shit together & went for it.

Clough had built a decent team at Derby but they weren't really expected to challenge, it was nowt like the shock of Leicester winning it now (if they do). What Derby did do was use the league win to spend the next 5 or so seasons challenging again along with another league title 3 seasons later and decent success in Europe including a semi final (where we were robbed!!!). Forest used their shock league win to push on and challenge for trophies for the next decade, not sure Leicester will be able to follow this up with much else.

But still have Wes Morgan and Danny Simpson in their back 4

Yes Tex you've made that up!

Can't believe nobody can see the pattern. All of the above fantastic achievements were built on until the title/cup wins finally came. A poor manager had his team bottom of the table, flicked a switch and overnight they start winning the premier league title
Anybody on here that says they would of had a single Leicester player or CR in charge on the beginning of the season is a f***ing liar. Is anybody gonna lump £50 on Norwich, Us or the Mags to win the league next season? Thought as much. It is literally dodgy as fuck man.

Quite possible in those days. Nobody believed it was now

But even if those teams had got their shit together, Leicester would have gone from bottom to 4 losses all season and probably second/third regardless. That's not down to Chelsea being shit. Last season Man City were second and lost 7 games. Chelsea lost 3.
