Wiki's info on Sunderland

Thats bollocks for starters. Stick a borough of Sunderland map up and Sunderland’s on the RH side cos the sea would take up the RH side of a map with Sunderland in the centre. Or summet.
Hows summit/summit spelt anyway?

East Herrington was part of Sunderland town. After the board inn heading towards the hill it was non-townie according to my nanna.
East and Middle Herrington used to have an address of "near Sunderland" Co Durham - back in the late 60's/early 70's. The old town boundary sign used to be on the grassed area at the top of the bank on Durham road just past the Holy Rosary church.
Just for clarity, Middle Herrington is the Board Inn side of Durham Road, and East Herrington - the Esso (Brownies) garage side.
