Wickham hinting at something

Wickham is still young....It's too early to give up on him now...Have to give him 2 more year at least.

DiCanio should consider giving him the start for the upcoming cup match against DK....If he doesn't do much, then loan him out...May need a strong year in the championship, then take another look at him again..if you still dont like the improvement, sell to championship team for 2mil

Problem is that his contract will be up in 18 months. Unless he breaks through soon then we risk letting him go into his final year with the possibility he could walk away and all the money we paid would be lost with little effect. That would be a big gamble.
Can't see the point of sending him out on loan to a championship side either. That's where he was two years ago. Even if he did well what would it prove? He needs to show he can make it in the Premier league..and he needs to show that soon.

Well, I would give him the start for the cup match...and based on how he does, I'd either sell him or give him a contract extension of 2 more year...If he plays well, I would give him the extension...If not, I would sell him to the championship.

For whatever reason, it seems as though he just cant breakthrough into the 1st team - 3 managers so far have been largely unimpressed. There is a player in there somewhere but I doubt we will see it before his contract runs down to a point where we need to sell.

Is this true?! A host of fans slagging a player because he posted a random qoute by Einstein? Is this real or I'm in a parallel universe!? What is happening with this world?

It's unusual for Wickham as he only ever seems to go on twitter when he has something to say (usually corporate), a random Einstein quote doesnt fit with his normal M.O.

It's ridiculous. We want to compete with the best and yet when we spend big money an element of our fans can't get over the price tag. The fee is irrelevant. Once he's signed, then he's one of ours and we should back him accordingly.

Not strictly true though.....no-one questioned the fact that we may have had to pay up to £16m for Darren Bent because he hit the ground running and scored 24 goals.....same with Sess...no-one questions his fee......or O'Shea's.....or even Gyan's. They question fees when they don't deliver. It's like any walk of life.....you look for value in the things you buy. Wickham hasn't got it up top....he appears to lack the drive required to make it as a top pro......you can't instil what the likes of Roy Keane had.....you're born with it and CW doesn't have it.

But it's not your money and it has already been spent. There is no point at all in judging Wickham on his price tag, it serves no purpose. Have you already wrote Laing and Egan off? How long do Ba, Karlsson and Mavrias get to impress before you write them off?

You can though .... the Forest supporters didn't rate him when he first showed up.

He was coached and taught to channel his aggression in the right way ........ still let it slip as was shown with his deliberate 'leg breakers'.

I said ages ago - on here and on twitter - that I rated Ji more. Stick by that.

Wickham has a heart like a pea; more interested in getting a new haircut than playing good football.

At his age, we still get a fee if he's out of contract and leaves. I'd agree about the loan unless maybe it was to a top end club. There was little point in him heading off to Sheff Wed and being in and out of their side last year.

The only issue with Wickham is whether he wants it enough

I'd agree, and I think what we've seen to date suggests he doesn't have that spark in him.

He doesn't have a bad touch for a big lad, but he's just not scrapping for his footballing life when the chips are down.

No chance he'll improve at SAFC and I can't see him improving anywhere else.

He just needs to play, coming to the premier league at such young age has held him back, he has missed out on a couple of years playing time. He can still make it though, if he wants to.

That's assuming you have some to start with though...

I'd be happy to move him on. Every time he either started or came off the bench I was willing him to show something, some spark which suggested he was going to fulfill his potential. Sorry to say it just hasn't happened.
There will be plenty of times this season when Di Canio will look to the bench for a striker capable of coming on and nicking a winner or equaliser and I'm sorry Whickham just doesn't inspire confidence that he's that man.

I've seen enough of Keane to know the answer ...... having said that he used to go back home to Cork, through homesickness, as a 20 year old man, and only because Clough allowed it.

Not exactly the hard man image people like to imagine.

couldnt give a shite if he goes tbh, sadly he'd not good enough for us and Bruce pissed too much money on him
we'd be lucky to get half that back for him but we need to cut our losses on him
i'll admit i'm not his biggest fan, but really wanted him to do well and each time i see him i'm disappointed

saying all this like, he'll end up playing great at whoever he ends up at
He'll never play any higher than the Championship. Can't trap a ball, no skill, can't go past a player. Nine million pound.....Oh my god. Think of the players we could of had for less
