Why would you sack your manager one day…

Would have thought they would have said something along the lines of 'by mutual consent'.

TBH it is shocking that no appointment appears to be imminent. It looks like they wanted to get rid of TM and just were waiting for a few bad results to use as an excuse. Would have been more honest and sensible just to sack him before an international break if they were intent on a change, as long as they had some one waiting in the wings to try and get a seamless transition.

For me the obvious choice would be Graham Potter, someone who knows the English leagues.

You think that doesn't happen most of the time????
Google Potter’s Chelsea salary and TM’s Sunderland salary and then ask yourself why Potter would work for 10% of his previous salary.

and not have his replacement already lined up to start pretty much the day after? F*cking berks.

They knew fine well they wanted rid of TM FFS. Loads of clubs do it I suppose, it’s just mad… 🤷‍♂️

Because it doesn't work like that 🤦

This Graeme Potter talk is nothing but delusion I'm afraid. He has a boring, English-sounding name so people think he attainable. He will have plenty of more inviting job offers in the next year or so.

When someone with a normal everyday occupation loses their job it is easy to sympathise with them. With football mangers less so. Do they ever lose out financially?

Is Potter claiming unemployment benefit? No - and TM won’t be either.
Soup Kitchen tomorrow according to, well probably one of his friends from Boro

The problem is if we are only prepared to pay peanuts we are going to get monkeys. I can understand wage caps for playing staff but might have hoped they might look at a manager differently.

You're right. It's a bit of a mess.

You can't be interviewing managers behind your current managers back. That's proper amateurish. Now he's gone they can look at the shortlist they will have had since the summer, when they clearly wanted rid of him until the fans kicked off, and can start interviewing to find the best one on it. 1 or 2 games with a caretaker ain't going to make or break us.

Msybe they thought coaches were lining up for a chance to work with KS.

Stoke did

Probably worried if they give him another game while they got things sorted behind the scenes and he won, they'd not be able to pull the trigger.
Great point, knowing how we have been the last 12 months we could suddenly go on a 3 match winning spree and be up to 5th in the table.

The Man City job is starting to look inviting 🤣
Maybe they thought coaches were lining up for a chance to work with KS.

Stoke did

KS probably thought that 🤣

Same happened when Lee Johnson got the bullet. Took our time and appointed the right candidate to get us promoted the same season.
Far better to take our time and get the right person in rather than a rush job
