Why would you sack your manager one day…

After an impromptu discussion on the January transfer window led to an irreversible rift ?

and not have his replacement already lined up to start pretty much the day after? F*cking berks.

They knew fine well they wanted rid of TM FFS. Loads of clubs do it I suppose, it’s just mad… 🤷‍♂️
Did you have a meltdown last summer when we were linked to be talking to others behind his back?

We have not been great for a while, I still think Huddersfield was the last straw, and anybody who was there would agree. We only got a lucky point away to Millwall and there was no real improvement there, we probably should have lost .
If we had lost again would people have thought any differently about the manager?

My guess is they did and it was Will Still. We've asked for permission to speak to him and had a discussion with his representatives which have told us he is not interested at this stage. Now they've quickly moved onto number 2 on the list Hellberg, see what he says. I think they have always had a list of not just players but managers also, they are data driven and do their homework.

They can't start discussing a vacancy until there's a vacancy

The SMB: Why do we always go for out of work managers, we never go for a manager who’s already in a job?

Also the SMB: It’s been 2 and a half days since Mowbray left, why haven’t we announced his replacement yet?

I think most would complain but be more confident that the hierarchy have been decisive and quick.
You mean like the Stoke City hierarchy?

Sacked Michael O'Neill on August 25th and were ' decisive and quick ' in signing Alex Neill on August 28th, just 3 days later.

That's going swimmingly for them, then?

I'd rather the owners took their time and made a considered appointment, personally.

Imagine trying to convince a new manager you're loyal and will back him, whilst going behind the current managers back and looking for replacements before sacking him... Not an appealing look

What if he wasn’t sacked

What if Mowbray went in asking for certain things and they’ve declined.

Then Mowbray said “let’s call it a day then”
Would have thought they would have said something along the lines of 'by mutual consent'.

TBH it is shocking that no appointment appears to be imminent. It looks like they wanted to get rid of TM and just were waiting for a few bad results to use as an excuse. Would have been more honest and sensible just to sack him before an international break if they were intent on a change, as long as they had some one waiting in the wings to try and get a seamless transition.

For me the obvious choice would be Graham Potter, someone who knows the English leagues.

You think that doesn't happen most of the time????

This, like this week sheff Utd appointed wilder 30 mins after they sacked heckingbottom.

Why sack someone when you've got three games in eight days....crazy....why not do it in the international break.....and the outcome?....we've seen it all before

I am really starting to think that it was not the results so much as to why Mowbray was sacked. Had they because the results they would have been more prepared. I think it was down to Mowbray criticising the strikers being not ready and not being able to bring another one in January. Those comments meant they were not as prepared as they might have been. Personally I think if they had planned it they should have done it during the last international window.
