He should never have done a u-turn.

It's was always going to end in tears

Anyone ember Bruce stating it was like shopping in Harrods?

All went the same way in the end.

It's no more than some of us (including ex managers) have been saying for a long time. There are others on here who have defended Short to the hilt, now we all know who was right. I take no satisfaction from thar

Then self sufficiency kicked in, trying to run a football club against all the rules of nature. Football at the top level is all about money, and money spent wusely. Have a look around, the results are very poor.

Why didn't you fuck off on 1 September then Dick? Why say the squad was now good enough when the window closed? Seems like as soon as you were out of your depth in the Premier League you threw in the towel. No way is this 'poundland' squad a three points from eight played squad.

Don t want to slag Dick off but there s a lot of truth in that. He also said the exact amount of money Short promised him was never discussed. A bit naive to come back and expect to spend mega bucks. Surely Ellis and him would chew the fat over our FFP situation and nail down how much he would need to spend to get us up to comfortable in the league.

Why are you unhappy with us trying to be self sufficient?

There we go, straight from the horses mouth. Ellis is indefensible with regards to transfer policy IMO and is ultimately responsible for our shite team.

I dont think it was Ellis who binned Vergini, signed Coates and Kabul and gave Wes Brown a new contract.

I'm happy to hear all he has to say about the club, we should be far more transparent than we have been. Doesn't mean I agree with any of it.

Quite frankly the whole thing has been yet another disaster brought on by ourselves. I like Short and am forever grateful at the money he has put in, but how many times is he going to be his own worst enemy by not being completely transparent from the start. Pick a f***ing plan, agree it with the staff you choose and stick to it.

I don't agree that a Manager of his pedigree was out of his depth, that means that this job was harder than anything he's ever done before and that's rubbish. It's all down to having mostly shit players and lack of funds.

I like the bloke, but realistically what did he expect? We spent funds like the clubs around us have, not ideal but that's clearly the situation we find ourselves in and has been for a while.

It was simply beyond him, his management this season and the shambolic set up of the side, work rate and discipline shows that, as will allardyce when he immediately makes a better fist of it.

Nee one can refute the claims he was lead up the garden path, of course he didn't do enough with what he had but something went very wrong from the point short and congers got him back and the point our transfers started to kick in.

Not unhappy about it, I was disappointed at the timing. We had, at the time it was announced, already dug a hole for ourselves with having too many loans. The first team just wasn't ready, then the better players started to leave and we needed just too many to be funded on the resources available, hence too much quantity and little quality.

Dick knew the situation when he returned re cash available. To suggest otherwise is naive.

He just wasn't up for it. He couldn't coach, motivate or change tactics once his second-in-command left.

Aye I like him as well but he did state when he returned it had nothing to do with money for players which seems strange considering what is being said now. The problem is too many people involved and hard to know what has gone on.

I don't think things are always so simple but not having the foundations in place in a lot of areas will have affected him a lot (including the fact he was meant to have retired)
