Why have we been so shite the last 5 games

cos we are shite?

Stoke City L 3-2 typical dirty Stoke City tactics

Spurs L 2-1 can't complain cos they went and beat AC Milan at the San Siro the following Tuesday

Everton L 2-0 poor game which we deserved to get beat

Arsenal D 0-0 cracking perfomance from Mingolet and Bramble in the 2nd half

Liverpool L 2-0 Never a penalty but it wasn't a decent perfomance by any means. Mind Liverpool shouldn't flatter themselves, they weren't great either.

The Everton game is the only one out of the last 5 where we really deserved to get beat. The penalty in the Liverpool game changed the course of the game where we could have realistically got summat before the penalty was given.

We've played better sides than us in 4 of them.

But some of them weren't better sides earlier in the season.

What happened?
Have we stagnated, or even deteriorated?
Or (not very believable) has almost every other side in the division improved?

I'm generalising a bit, but I'm sure you get my drift. If you want to, that is like.

We've played Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs and Liverpool who all have better squads than us. ( in this bad run)
Of course we can beat them on a given day but there is nee shame in losing to them.

I take that onboard but looking at the corresponding fixtures we have been chalk and cheese.

Now the only difference is personnel, so are the players we have brought in to strengthen actually weakening us and big style at that...?

There is definitely something missing from our creative side, we should be a match for anyone especially at home but the fire that was there looks well and truly gone.

For me there was nothing wrong with our creative side we only needed a tweaking to make us that harder to beat, however losing that has made us much easier to turn over.

The major concern for me is Bruce's lack of doing anything about it, injuries for me have nothing to do with a team we can turn out to do a whole lot better.

Have we really taken huge strides on the pitch...?
I thought we had done only to fix something that wasn't broken.
Could well be another false dawn, one thing for certain, time will tell.
No we havent.

The past few seasons show that we have pretty poor end of season performances/positions, however Quinny says we're great so the majority fall into line.

13th, 16th and 15th is nowt to shout home about. It'll be interesting too see if we can better 13th this season. I'm not confident.

We haven't. The performances against Everton and Liverpool were poor but we fought hard for a deserved point at Arsenal, played very well against Spurs but were undone by poor defending and should have beaten Stoke but for the aforementioned defence.

Injuries have done for us again this season but if we had strength in depth we may still have been challenging for sixth rather than facing a possible relegation scrap.

If you drew a graph of the last ten seasons I think the curve would be upwards whatever you say. You can't argue with that no matter how hard you try. The team now is better than under Keane. Keane's team was better than McCarthy's. Our progress might not be good or quick enough for you, but it's still progress.

I don't think anyone can argue against the ten season issue but as much as Quinny gets carried away with things, as things stand we could well end up in the bottom half come May.

How many games do you put out near enough the same side with players in the exact same positions barring one or two players when it's blatantly obvious it's not working.

I just don't get it at all.
Can someone explain to me, I'm totally lost.

Bruce has harped on about giving soft goals away all season, yet we continue to gift them to the opposition. He has stressed the need to keep it tight and forfeit many of our attacking options in doing so. He has punished some defenders for their misdemeanours but praised others when they've been equally to blame. There are doubts during the course of the game in which he doesn't seem to know what he's doing or how to turn things round. You can blame injuries, referees, Quinn or whoever you choose but he's the motivator who dishes out the orders to the eleven on the field. This is not a scathing attack on the manager -"take heed the dafties"- merely an observation on our current decline. Personally, from the soundbites coming my way, I'd say several players are confused about their roles and this needs to be addressed.

Where does Sess actually play, where was Malbranque supposed to be against Liverpool, do our central midfielders just pick whoever up....?

Nail on head for me there but why can Bruce not see it...?

the sale of Darren Bent hasn't helped plus two lads coming in not match fit and effectively doing a pre season with us!
