Why have we been so shite the last 5 games

football has overtaken SAFC, the likes of Murray saw to that.

whilst a load of people on here are convinced that the good times are just around the corner, that wont happen.

We have no real money to throw about and a £65m turnover will see us no place in particular. with the UEFA Financial Fair Play coming into operation there will have to be some creative accounting or deep pockets too see us make much of an impact.

Even if we get a huge international sponsortship deal of say £10m per annum it takes our turnover to £75m - one decent player.

Its not going to happen for SAFC or anyone else hoping to muscle in on the top 5 or 6.

Sorry to burst everyone's bubble. Forget it.

Not very far unfortunately.

Quinns ambition can be as huge as it likes it wont happen for SAFC. The club he took over was knackered; it still is.[/QUOTE]

It is not knackered, and Quinn is pulling out all the stops to promote the club outside the Uk.Would you agree Quinn has raised the clubs profile so far.....if not you are even more of a idiot than everyone on here already seems to think you are.
It matters not what you think of me on here but my message is correct. The club is a busted flush and nothing of any great note will occur.

We're too far behind the top clubs. Nice words but thats all it is.

Sorry.

Lost 4, drawn 1, scored 3, conceded 9, I would argue we have like. Our defence has been a shambles (only poor finishing and dodgy refereeing stopped Arsenal scoring a few) and we have been unable to shoot never mind score.

It's all relative marra, let's see if we can say this after the next five games, i'm sure some posters on here would love to though.

So you think Quinn has not raised our profile ?Also do you ever have any thoughts about safc and Quinn that are positive, and that question is for redandwhiterob too?

with that attitude I'm suprised you havn't given up on Sunderland altogether, you sound like Stubber
That may well happen in time.

I dont think that Quinn has done all that much for our media perception. simply put no one is litening to him outside of Wearside because our club just doesnt rate on the football richter scale.

In short he is probably wasting his time.

Probably just about right.

But you're gonna 'get wrong' for that one, marra.
Clappies all over, like a rash.

Because the club is far too complacent. Everyone who joins us, administrators, managers or players knows about our relegation record. We're happy to quite simply not go down - as are the fans BTW.

We lack any ambition. Talk a good game though.

Ok in accepting that point what should the clubs ambition be bearing in mind you have also said this......

You are criticising the club for a lack ambition by just being happy to stay up, yet also state that regardless of our ambition we can't break the top 6 what level of ambition would stop you from being critical of the club?

Not necessarily disagreeing with your points nor am I a supporter who believes the top 5/6 is possible but just interested to know your views.

Show me a post where I am negative about Quinn or Sunderland, its the fact of the way football is nowadays I am pissed off with. Not with Quinn, Short or Bruce

The bridge in the finances is just to great between the big guns and the rest

Just me who thinks it's because, bar Stoke - where, yes, we lost, but we didn't play shite - we've played 4 of the the best 6 teams in the league in the last 5 games?

probably, but its also a worry that Bruces teams seem to fall back regularly in the latter stages of the season

My honest belief is that the best SAFC can now hope for is:

1. An irregular place in the europa League
2. A cup final/win every 20 years or so
3. A regular top 10 PL finish

...if the current level of investment is maintained.

BTW I dont think that Bruce will necessarily lead us to any of the above. I think he was good to stabalise SAFC and made sure that we didnt go down but after that I dont think he'll do anything of any significance here.

We need a Clough or a Shankly but I cant think of whom that might be. There will be someone out there who fits us perfectly but whether we ever stumble across him is a different matter.

All IMHO mind.

I know what you are saying but you seem to back up posters like mbh who seem to have nothing good to say about Quinn, who is doing everything he can, to lift our club including trying to raise the profile of the club overseas which is really important, its a slow process but he is raising our profile.

Dont let them get to you marra. Youre right. It doesnt mean that you are disloyal to SAFC all it means is that you can read the runes correctly and dont get caught up in the hype.

Youve made a fair call IMHO.

I will back any poster up who I think it right, its not some form of underground clique intent on undermining Sunderland

Well not on my part anyway;)

why shouldnt he? Is it illegal?

honesty sometimes hurts but thats the way it is. Also its my opinion and you shouldnt place so much store in one persons opinion.

If you think I'm wrong you tell me why you think I'm wrong. That isnt illegal either.

alright marra. coming through sometime soon?

Youre right the message wont go down well but lets face it, its right isnt it?

Somebody's smashed the 'Quote Fuction' to smithereens.
And it wasn't me.
I think I've fixed it (but mebes not ).

I was going to say this Friday mate, but just remembered. Off to Prague for 4 days on Thursday.
Next weekend is fine for me.
Your turn to get your arse up and out of your town. So Washington it is then
Next Friday (8th) in Concord. We might bump into Cartwright

EDIT : PS yes, it's right.

Can't disagree with any of that and I wasn't trying to have a pop by the way just wanted to hear your, and anyone else's view for that matter, on where we think we can get to as a club.

Problem with point 2. is that for some reason the club is sending out the message that a cup run would put points 1 and 3 in jeopardy which in my view is bollocks.
