why do some people on here laugh off or shoot down the posters who are worried about our paper thin

Scroll down this page: http://www.bbc.com/sport/36681972. See roughly 37 transfers in the PL since July 1st. How many are game changers? How many potential targets have been scooped from under our noses?

Clearly, things have had to slow down while the managerial situation was sorted but there's lots of time left.

Our "paper thin" squad may have stayed up by the skin of its teeth but that squad was 6W, 9D, 4L. 1.42ppg and +5GD in the last half of the season. That would be a 54pt +10 season, which most seasons would put us 9th. I have every confidence that the players/spots that need attention will get attention - it's not like Moyes is learning his craft.

I suppose it's OK if people want to worry, but I'm not really sure why anyone would. We're likely to get off to our best start in a long time.

you will offend a few with this post.. as for transfers maybe you could inform me as well its almost midnight and well I can't be arsed to google it, but in the Murray Era were our transfers as so dawn out as they are today? because I know during Quinn's time as chairman they always seem to get done quickly
It offended me
I didn't even get one
Obviously knows a few of the brighter lads

This preseasons accusers are probably the same happy clappers who were accusing last preseasons bedwetters of wetting their beds ower both last preseasons poor preseason matches and transfer activity. The fact that the bedwetters were proven reet when DA hoyed the towel in and SAFC needed probably the best transfer window in its history to dig itself out of a hole of its own making surely means the damp duvet crew have a point AGAIN. Bedwetting is a catch all "project fear" style expression used by those too blind/thick to see and evaluate the evidence of their own eyes.

SAFC have been underachieving for nigh on 80 years and the sooner the happy clappers accept that anyone who thinks changes need to be made isnt a bed wetter the better.

Well after years and years of false dawns we just get on with it. Sunderland is a way of life and a challenge. All you bairns including the OP just need to understand that FFS.
Doesn't mean we have to accept it though. Those of us who are intelligent enough to perceive the problems associated with losing a manager, not strengthening a previously struggling squad in pre season are not "bairns" and we fully understand that we do not have to accept that. What's wrong with you people.

Whoosh thanks for replying!! So people like me are not intelligent? I was watching SAFC when you were on Cow and Gate. I understand transfer windows and club policies. You are just a "bairn" and I hope you and your teachers enjoy the next five weeks off. Twat!

Why do people like you assume that anyone who has a different opinion to you is a school kid. Do you really understand transfer windows and club policies? It's easy to say but much more difficult to prove. As for being on cow and gate when you were watching SAFC, well I dare bet that I was watching SAFC 20 years before you were even born. If that's not the case then you've learnt nought so you have proved your lack of intelligence and goodnight!

Most likely because we have a much better 'backbone' of a team going into a season since we originally came up and behind the scenes are working on the extra players to bring in...aka this thread always comes up every season and we always work something out...but this time we pretty much know our starting 11 from the word go ;)

Come on mahn, you must know all sorts can happen in two weeks ;) Keep the faith buddy.

I am always optimistic but it's just human nature to fear the worst being a lads fan. It's just the way some posters regard you as being inferior and hurl sbuse if you air your concerns. I've been a supporter since I was a kid, frequented Roker Park in the 60's and saw a lot of the real legends of football during that time. I just want to see some success and enjoy a bit of light hearted banter on a message board. It's not too much to ask is it?

Unfortunately some of our fans are pretty thick as its very simple, we stayed up by 2 points last season, we've lost yedlin and mvilla, and Defoe will not be fully fit for start of the season with no other out and out striker! Non of that is positive for this season
Some fans are pretty thick followed by
NON of that
Righto

I bet the same posters are the first ones to whinge on if we get off to a poor start to the season
You'll lose that bet then!

The board is for amongst other things, opinions.
Doomies believe before the season we're in the shite because we havent bought enough players.
Posters like me believe that's a pile of shite for myriad reasons so call the perps out for spouting drivel.
If that gets people down...TOUGH

Yep it's about opinions, I totally agree. It's not about being abusive to people though, if someone's opinion is "spouting drivel" It's not the alternative opinion that gets people down, it's the "calling perps out" That isn't really acceptable is it.

Business as usual, we should be used to this by now.

England nicking Sam was the problem this year but recruitment in pre-season has been underwhelming for the last few seasons.

Couple of loans, a few gambles... rinse and repeat.
Eh?? Buisness as usual?? Our preferred manager nicked by England??

We just signed David Moyse..he has the third most games managed in the premier league behind SAF and Arsene Wenger...but I guess now he's a retard and doesn't know how to run a pre-season?

SMB/SAFC annual cycle

Start season dreadful. SMB kicks off.

Late revival and amazing escape.

SMB proclaims manager is genius, will easy achieve mid table under him as he knows exactly what is needed.

Team weakened in pre-season by not replacing loans/out of contracts.

People on SMB point out this will cause us problems. They are called bed waters, fannies and that "we have until the end of September, no point settling for drabness now for the sake of it".

End of September comes. We settle for a drab loan signing in desperation.

Start season dreadful. SMB kicks off.

Why mummy, why?
Tell me or I'll scream and scream until the social workers turn up

Really don't see why people need to insult fellow supporters.

I doubt anyone would say the pre season's been ideal. I doubt anyone would say they're happy with the lack of transfer activity and I doubt anyone would say we don't need new signings.

Most people, including myself, would see the improvement in the team from January, and get some confidence from that - and that is a positive for the season.

Of course, we've lost 1 key player and 1 bit part player from that squad, and we've lost the manager, which is a big loss.

We will make signings, and we've got a good manager in charge. We're playing catch up again, which is massively frustrating, but it's no fault of the club's - on this occasion.

We'll have 2-3 new signings in before next weekend's game IMO, and we'll go from there.

The fortunate thing is that, again IMO, we've got a good solid team to build on now, unlike in other years.
