why do some people on here laugh off or shoot down the posters who are worried about our paper thin

M'Vila, who we're apparently still in negotiations with, whose club are apparently asking for an unreasonable amount of money for him when his contract is up in 6 months and we could get him on a free?

And what would happen if we did part with a substantial chunk of our transfer budget and wages to get him, but it turned out he didn't fit the system the new manager wanted to play?

Not exactly a great business decision, rolling the dice like that.

Aye cos he's going to sit around and wait for us  plus the days of using pigeons to send messages have long gone

Plus Moyes has inherited a squad of players left over by god knows how many managers I'm sure one more wouldn't make a difference

There's mags who don't slate the club as much as you.

Now settle yourself down and have a word with yourself.
So if I, and many like me, can see the faults should we not publically air them?

I don't know when the billionaire became such a benevolent father figure to so many fans.

Its like Victorian times on here man. Don't question the rich, they're better than us.

It flies in the face of the Sunderland fans I used to stand on the terraces with. Who cared passionately and questioned the men at the top without fear.

We're a very very benign set of fans nowadays.
Why do you think this happened?

I think it comes from having two distinct ways of thinking and calculating risk. Some people look backwards see patterns and analyse what is going to happen from that. Others look forward and see what is to come, what may potentially happen with the resources (players, budget etc) in the present and then calculate what may happen from that. Neither is right or wrong, it's just two distinct ways in which human beings think.

Some are just happy to see SAFC exist, go to the match at the weekend, not worry about the result too much as it is largely a social thing for them, being in the stadium with fellow supporters, having a few pints and a laugh with friends, belonging to your home area and being a part of local culture is the main point for them and they know from experience that the quality on the pitch doesn't really effect that, so why get upset.

Others have an emotional interest in the success of the team, the match day experience isn't a positive one for them if the team play shit and lose. (There are scales of this, eg playing well and losing is acceptable to most). They absorb the negative feeling in the crowd and the post match pint with mates is one of commiserations or celebrations.

These are just different ways people think. Terms like bed wetter, mag, pissy pants, happy clapper are just inflammatory terms used to irritate the poster they are directed at. The point is, supporters think in different ways, and one type isn't a 'better' or more deserving than another, and either side will never be convinced through a forum to change as only a drastic change in life circumstances could do that.

You're mental. Absolutely mental.

Squad and lack of geniune quality signings with 2 weeks to go before the season starts and use the term bed wetters etc etc

Do they not think that those posters have a very valid point of view.

I am not a bed wetter by any stretch of the imagination but I am a little worried that we only managed to stay up by the skin of our teeth again last year and yet we have a squad as it stands weaker than the one that finished the season

I am over the moon with David moyes as manager but he needs backed to the hilt in the next 4 weeks if we are not to be involved in another relegation battle
Because they have ego issues and what to pretend to be ITK and cool as a cucumber etc. Basically the fuckers who talk to loud in pubs about themselves

I've supported the lads for nearly 50 years.

We used to dream of being a top tier club.
I even have a single from the 70s somewhere with the team signing 'sunderland will be in the first division scoring goals in every game they play".

I remember when our 'flair player' was John bloody Oster!

We now are playing our tenth consecutive season in the richest league in world football while the Mags are busy doing a yo yo impression.

We are a top ten team on form over the past 6 months with much better squad and team spirit than at the start of recent seasons and several tens of millions of pounds to improve it in the next month.

If you aren't happy at this point, it's time to go and support Man City or Barca....Sunderland obviously aren't for you...
