Why did you stop attending?

I always took the opportunity of playing over the opportunity of watching. You can't play on forever and in fact I don't play footy at the weekend now as to old and slow. Now I spend my weekends watching my kids play and help out with coaching also. We get to a handful of games each season. I miss playing and wouldn't miss watching my kids, watching Sunderland comes 3rd and when they've stopped playing I will be at more games.
Bit different playing organised football to a kick about on astro turf though.

I do know people who put their kid's teams ahead of Sunderland, and I can understand that.

Kids came along.
and the Toxic atmosphere in the ground.
My last match at the SoL was that Pompey home game towards the end of the season.
It was vile

Couldn’t get in touch with the ticket office in the summer when they fucked my renewal up. 😅

Had a season ticket pretty much every year since the mid 90s. Kept it on for 3 L1 seasons and gave it up for the season we went up (so I'm maybe the jinx)

Picked and chose games last year, but this became less frequent. Haven't been this year at all and I haven't missed it. Never thought I'd get to that stage but here I am.

Still lurk on here, look out for the results and watch the odd game online (including last night) but have genuinely lost the passion for going to the games.

Maybe it's my age. Who knows. I spend more time with my two kids and watching them (footy/kickboxing). I enjoy it more too.

Away games are even worse marra. Young coked up beer flingers.

You can still gan on yer own ynar Thousands do.
I don't do aways like. Me last one was Boro in the relegation to League 1 season (shudder).

I used to want to and I have been to a few, but I've never had enough points to pick and choose, and I didn't really have anyone to go with.

Nowadays I feel like I've got better things to do than take a full day out of me weekend following Sunderland up and down the country.

Used to go with 5 mates and they stopped one by one. My dad lost interest so literally nobody to go with do my last season ticket was first season in league 1 after having one every year since 1988 bar one year i spent in Australia.
You should have ditched your glory supporting mates before it can to this.

They have all had tickets for over 20 years seen us relegated multiple times and previously in division three which was my first season. So hardly think it qualifies as glory supporting.

We have made made 2 major finals in my time going and the two top 7 finishes. Last season was first enjoyable one in years for anyone.

As other people have said things change for people I think in my time supporting us it was that dire season under Moyes and the players like Rodwell who finished it off for my 2 best mates.

Hopefully last season was a turning point in the right direction after the utter dross that was league one. Been to a few games last couple of years not without my best mate or dad it massively dilutes the experience.

aye, it was fairly tongue in cheek like.

i go on me own, but get on with the people next to us. if you want a buddy i'd be willing to but with the caveat that if you're boring we aren't stuck going together for the rest of our lives

I stopped going regularly during the Moyes season, and gave up my season ticket at the end of it. I just got too old to enjoy the 600+ mile alcohol free day trip to see a bunch of losers. Since giving up my season ticket, I haven’t been able to get many away tickets (other than the likes of Gillingham & Charlton) down south. I know others won’t agree, but I would always put a portion of away tickets on general sale so that exiles without season tickets (especially those with 20-30 years of previous home & away attendance) have a chance to get to a few games. I’ll probably do more homes games once I retire as it’ll be easier to come up for a weekend.
