I saw a few young lads heading into the Beacon about ten to eight last nights, shorts n that on so I assumed they were going for a game of 5 a side. One of them had a Sunderland trackie top on. I couldn't get me head round why they would be clarting about playing 5 a side when they could be watching the Lads next door.
I get people's circumstances change and of course there's the financial impact, but I just can't imagine not going to home games - especially when you're a young lad, local, with bugger all else to do.
Being a bit young and stupid I avoided jobs that might/would have prevented me going to the games on a Saturday. When I was at uni I had to work Saturday afternoons in a shop for some pocket money. The amount of blokes wandering around shopping with their missus at 3pm on a saturday used to wind me up
I always took the opportunity of playing over the opportunity of watching. You can't play on forever and in fact I don't play footy at the weekend now as to old and slow. Now I spend my weekends watching my kids play and help out with coaching also. We get to a handful of games each season. I miss playing and wouldn't miss watching my kids, watching Sunderland comes 3rd and when they've stopped playing I will be at more games.I saw a few young lads heading into the Beacon about ten to eight last nights, shorts n that on so I assumed they were going for a game of 5 a side. Away games are even worse marra. Young coked up beer flingers.Being self employed for the last 8 years put pay to my trips to the Sol. I've attended a few games recently, and being honest I just cant be arsed with the chew on these days.
Wankers who cant get to their seats on time, then constantly getting up and down during the game. Boils my piss. The whole matchday experience for me is piss poor. Maybe its an age thing?
You can still gan on yer own ynar Thousands do.Used to go with 5 mates and they stopped one by one. My dad lost interest so literally nobody to go with do my last season ticket was first season in league 1 after having one every year since 1988 bar one year i spent in Australia.
