Why broken record Sam Allardyce is fooling no one... least of all West Ham fans

Again, there is a lot of vitriol around about Sam and his apparent lack of achievements. If his achievements as a football manager are being done down, then what does that make the achievements of our last 4 managers?

The truth is IF Sam can recreate the stability he has at this previous clubs then we will be looking back in three years going thinking of just how lucky we got that Sam was ready and available. If it doesn't work out, then we've lost nothing - because right now, today (based on our form this season) we are in possession of a one way ticket to the Championship, and could very well end up like Leeds, Sheffied United, Coventry and the many others who have sank before us in debt.

We need to stay up, we need the TV money next season and we need a manager who has previous for doing just that. Fuck West Ham, fuck their West Ham way - the West Ham way looked pretty f***ing shit a fortnight ago.

all this West Ham way stuff is that we like to see our sides play entertaining attacking football

it's not some set formation or style and the press have made more out of it than anyone else

unfortunately if the "West ham way" is as I said attractive attacking football, then we were right Allardyce does not provide it

the change in both style and results was moving Downing from the centre and breaking up the successful Sakho Valencia partnership

all done to accomodate Nolan and Carroll. Who strangely share an agent with him
You're not going to get through to many on this thread. We've had a turgid last few seasons trying to play smooth passing football, and all bar a few games, failed miserably. For that reason, most fans on here will take hoofball if it gets results. In fact it's pretty much their preferred style of play. I'm finding it amazing that they're getting at another team's fans for wanting a bit more.
I don't like any manager to have a pop at the fans of a club he's worked at. It show's a lack of class to mouth off about those who pay loads of money to watch your team. Managers are there to deliver the goods, and should be able to take a bit of criticism if they're not pleasing their paying customers.
There's a few on here who have given pelters to previous managers, yet criticise your lot for doing the same.

Well its official, people on this board can turn ANY thread into a dig at our fans :lol:
Oh do give it a break. If the cap fits.

The West Ham way :oops::oops::oops::oops:
A meaningless phrase that has resonated down the years and plagued many a Hammers manager since Wist 'Am won the World Cup in 1966.

I think Sir Trevor Brooking invented it, but if he didn't it wouldn't be the first time I got something wrong. Knighted for f***ing up English football through the various roles he played at the FA after retiring from being a very limited but highly over-rated footballer iirc, imho, there.

Well said, agree completely.

The club, yes. They treated him poorly.
We have plenty of fans on here who slag managers off. Dick was getting quite a bit of stick recently, and all the others have had shed loads.
Social media allows fans a voice, and we're just as critical on here as any other fans. It's pathetic then for us to be outraged when other fans do the same.
We justify what we write about our managers because we're watching their every move. We know more about what's going on than other fans looking in from the outside do.
West Ham fans were the ones paying to watch his football week in, and week out, so surely it's their prerogative to criticise if they feel let down. Who are we to tell them they can't. I'd be pissed if other fans were slagging us off for being critical of any of our previous managers.
I'm likewise likely to be pissed off at any manager who has a pop at me for criticising him. I, after all am the paying customer. If I don't like what I see, then I'll bicker on a message board if I want to.

The fan in question was giving Sam no praise at all, only putting his spin on the negative aspects of his spell in charge.

Compare this situation. Bruce took over when we were relegation fodder, had one decent season then returned us back to where we were when he came in. IMO he was deservedly sacked but all he waffled on about was finishing 10th and being sacked for being a geordie. It was bullshit, he failed, the table doesn't lie.

Sam got West Ham promoted and established them as a mid table side when many other promoted sides get relegated or struggle year on year like ourselves.

To slag Sam off for those tagible achievements is having a very narrow minded view of things. We might not have a first hand view but the raw facts are there for all to judge. Again the table doesn't lie.

But, but, but he wasnt playing the "West Ham" way:lol:

I'm glad Allardyce has joined us and I think he'll keep us up but I'm under no illusions what the football is going to be like at times. Plenty of 0-0's and hopefully some 1-0's in our favour but there will be games when we will be ultra defensive, barely having a shot and lose. There will be plenty on here moaning about the style of football after a few defeats like that. His style is to concede possession and nick something from a free kick or corner before sitting back and defending the lead. Most people will accept that this season but longer term, I guarantee the more turgid defeats we get, where we show no attacking ambition, the less popular he will become, just like at his other clubs.

It doesn't matter how you dress it up with their position in the table, the fans had started to get fed up with the style of play.
I can guarantee there'll be plenty of dissent on here in his second season. It's the way of the world.
I just think the over defensive reaction to that piece is disingenuous, and I'm not likely to think any differently because Sam, got them to steady mid table.
We've had it so bad, that we're actually thrilled at the prospect of mid table. It doesn't mean that every fan in the country should feel that way. Considering the cost of a seat at Upton Park, I can see why they felt short changed.

To be fair BSA done it for being booed after winning and Fletch done after not scoring for a year.

Sam was booed because he set his team to defend in depth against a woefully out of form Hull City side who were down to 10 men after 20 minutes when their goalie was wrongly sent off. Hull completely dominated, even with 10 men and West Ham were hugely fortunate to win through a dodgy penalty and a huge deflection, which came in spite of Sam's tactics, not because. Instead of going for the jugular against a terrible side lacking confidence, he gave all the impetus to Hull. The West Ham fans had had years of these performances and this one was the straw that broke the camels back. It will happen here too, given time.

Mr Allardyce's tenure at West Ham Olympic was nothing short of shocking.

West Ham, with it's proud tradition of World Cup winning football, which they won, by the way, in 1966. West Ham, the home of Ron Greenwood's Academy, creators of such mercurial yet stellar talents as Martin Peters, Sir Trevor Brooking and ...errr... Billy Bonds. West Ham, who gave the World its greatest ever defender, Sir Bobby Moore (who never stole that bracelet in Bogota, by the way). West Ham, who will save the nation's Olympic Stadium from going to waste by filling it with state-subsidised Premier League football. Oh, and Sir Geoff Hurst as well.

How dare Big Sam, with his pragmatic approach to the game, dare to besmirch the artist's canvas that is the hallowed turf of Upton Park ...err... I mean the Boleyn Ground. (Boleyn, presumably, because of the decapitation...)

I understand their pain, and hope we don't live to feel it.

In general I would agree, but there aren't (with the possible exception of Liverpool) any sets of fans in the Prem as entitled and deluded as West Ham and the Mags.

Pardew failed terribly after the Mags didn't he? They were absolutely right to turn up with all those Pardew out banners over the years...

BSA got hold of West ham in the Champo - gets them up and into safe mid table and gets sacked for 'not playing the West Ham Way' - they actually are worse than the Mags...
