Why are we so hated in League 1

You'll be seen as 'entitled'.
Your view is that you should be playing in a higher league, and that you do not belong in League One. Nobody 'belongs' there - it's simply where they are.

Other fans will make all sorts of sweeping generalisations about you, and because you have a larger fan base, stadium and recent record of higher tiers, you'll be judged negatively.

It really is just a bit of deep rooted envy and some enjoyment from beating one of the big boys (or 'teaching you a lesson'). I very much doubt there's any real hatred towards Sunderland itself, it's simply what you represent - a big club, slumming it.

A horrendous fall from the top table, but never really looking like administration. A huge fan base, great history and 'big club' setup. There has always been hope, underpinned by potential.

Four trips to Wembley in 7 years

Unbeaten by your rivals in 10 years including a six in a row.

There are plenty of clubs at this level whose very existence is under threat season after season, our troubles don't compare.

I suppose the context involved in that the fan base and history has no significant impact or relevance on anything results/performance wise now. 10 year unbeaten with rivals means very little, particularly as a proportion of those years include being two leagues below them and unable to even play them, and 3 of those 4 trips to Wembley being a result of such a catastrophic decline, subsequent rebuild and failure to get promoted.

Presumably Peterborough fans wouldn't be buzzing with being in the conference.

I wouldn't say you are hated at all,not by other fans anyway. I think we can discount the rantings of Barton and Robinson aswell. I do think though that the tendency for you Mackems to refer to this league as shitty and tin pot
doesn't reflect well on you.
The league is tin pot because of the officials , not the clubs and fans of other clubs, who the majority of us would rather mix with day in day out over those of man u and Chelsea.
ive enjoyed going to aways in this league more than anything the premier league has to offer.
proper fans to have a bit crack on with, not sky fans. as much as i want us in the top tier i'd miss going to proper grounds. at least the championship has still got some clubs with a bit soul left.
This is what I've heard from nearly everyone.
Fans from other clubs should realise the respect they get from us , not looking down on, which is by a minority.

We’re their world in this shithouse league. Every game is a cup final when they play us. Things were even when we had our hands tied by FFP and the previous owners Eastleigh model.
It’s kicking off because we are matching these clubs shithousery and beating them.

'The shit we have had to put up with over the years' isn't as bad as just about anyone else in this league man

Amazing isn't it. Yet the same people liking the OP will no doubt be laughing at Man United fans who have the cheek to complain after a few defeats.

That's fine.
I can't help supporting such a tinpot outfit.

Mind you, i suppose that would count for just about anyone who supports a club that isn't sunderland
Always have doubts about people who use pop stars for their avatars as tho thats who they want to be and even more when they use the name star in their name. Insignificant ?

I haven’t read the whole thread but I always find it funny fans of other teams calling us arrogant whilst telling us how they are basically the greatest football team of all time and the lower league Barcelona. There’s been loads now in just three seasons. Even just this season we’ve had Lincoln, Oxford, Peterborough and Blackpool saying it. All this whilst we’re basically saying how shite we are. I therefore struggle to reconcile the two.

Seems to be part an parcel by the looks of it. How did you's get on in the premier league while we were getting 'smashed all over in it'?

We haven't been in the top flight. Would I have more respect from you if I was a Scunthonian 'supporting' Liverpool or Man Utd? Then I would support a non-"tinpot" club.

Have I been 'owned' Zig81? I admit it you are too smart for me.
