Why are we so hated in League 1

Maybe its because you keep telling us what a big club you are and how tinpot we are.
Seriously I don't hate you, your boards great, you seem to have a smaller percentage of dickheads than other clubs and bring in much needed revenue. There are usually one or two big clubs going through lean times in league one, its a highlight of the season to be able to compete with them for a while.
The irony is out of all the teams we have played at this level, you’ve been consistently one of the best! as a club we’ve been shit housed quite a bit, it might have happened to other team and you’ll also probably be victims of it too, you play attacking positive football which draws the same shite! Today for the first time in years we stood up to it and I’m so proud! I wish you all the best after we beat you on Monday!👍👍

I don't give a shit if we're hated/liked or whatever.

We're probably getting more shit now because we're on a really good run and have a wave of momentum behind us. Nobody likes getting beat do they. Especially seeing as we've been soft as fuck to the 'tactics' of some clubs in our time at this level but now we're a lot more spiky and both willing and capable to give it back.

I can guarantee you it's brought up by the other teams more than anyone related to SAFC, you can play bingo for any post match interview with a losing manager and it will 9/10 times have a reference to either a transfer fee we've paid, our facilities, or wages we pay players. We also get told we shouldn't celebrate winning games because 'it's only lincoln, swindon, wimbledon' etc.

Most SAFC fans realise we are in this division on merit and happily afford respect to the opposition, however there seems to be plenty of players, coaches and supporters with a chip on their shoulder when it comes to us. As a team, our players have finally started giving a bit of needle back and I think it's played a part in our strong run of form.

The reality is we would be one of the biggest clubs in the league above us by pretty much any measure you care to mention. In this league its off the scale.

Only way to deal with it is to get out of this league the same way we got here. On the pitch.

We ended up here because we lost a lot of football matches. We get out of here by winning some more.

It boils down to the fact that we shouldn't be in this division. Any time we beat anyone it's too easy for the opposition coach to blame it on our resources and budget being miles ahead of whatever tinpot set up they have, likewise if we lose or draw it's seen as a scalp so they're desperate to get one over us.

I think Leadbitter made a good point a few weeks ago that most players in L1 would love to play for us so raise their game in the hope of getting noticed, all of that stuff plays a part.
Under Ross someone did a statistical analysis and nearly every team that had a positive result against us went onto have a poor result the following game, suggesting that for that season at least teams certainly raised their game against us.

Exactly this. We can’t win really. Fair enough teams will see it as a big scalp getting points off us but to go on like this 🤷🏻‍♂️

Evans, Barton and Robinson look to wind up whoever they play. Fergie junior is certainly no angel and Nathan Thompson has a degree in shithousery, but on the whole we will just try and play better football than you.

Doesn't surprise me, it was especially noticeable the first year. We very rarely get any games where the opposition don't turn up and roll over, because there's always a reason for them to be up for a game vs us. We would never catch Accrington on such an off day that they concede 7 for example.

I would strongly urge everyone to try and dig out the Crewe Managers interview after we played them approximately 4-5 weeks ago.
That interview and his comments will full illustrate exactly why this league dislikes us so much.
He talked nothing about the game or the football capabilities of both sides, instead it was an envious rant about our infrastructure , he even bad mouthed a 20 odd year old lad who had barely warmed his arse on the chair coming in as the new owner.
No, Iam sorry. It's all about envy and resentment and as another poster pointed out of this thread, it's their day in the sun against us and they're all raise their games against us.

Fair play and I genuinely wish you the best after monday, you have consistently been at the topend of this league for years and deserve a pop at the championship, you along with us were shithoused last year so for that reason alone I stand with you! other than Monday good luck for the rest of the season bud!👍👍

We've had a couple of goes at the Championship and even finished 10th once, I think we're ready for another go. Would rather you came up with us than Hull, seems poetic justice after last season, especially with Wycombe coming down.

Nathan Thompson is one of the worst little shit houses I've ever had the misfortune to watch on a football pitch. Hope the little bastard gets his comeuppance on Tuesday.

Truth is that through mismanagement we got ourselves into this league, and we will be playing these opponents until we get out of it again. This is all on us.

And they were never going to make it easy. They will want to keep us in this league by any means necessary. Our away support is lucrative to them. At home, when we have crowds, for opposition players and match officials it is the biggest crowd many of them will play in front of that season, and in some cases their career. They won't want to give any of that up. Opponents will shithouse and try and influence match officials because it is in their best interests. They will pull strokes like voting for salary and transfer caps to handicap us, for the same reasons. And rightly so. They are also sporting clubs with ambitions, and they owe us nothing.

We have to claw our way out of this league. We know this much now. Until recently we have been a soft touch. It is good at last to see our team showing fighting spirit, and not being intimidated or phased by thuggery and shithousing.

They have been totally ruthless in trying to keep us here. We need to be totally ruthless to escape them.

You missed out the perennial line, “we matched them in all departments, they’re nothing special” 🙄

I do think though that the tendency for you Mackems to refer to this league as shitty and tin pot
doesn't reflect well on you.
It is though. The standard of some of the games is appalling, barely above non league levels.
I include our team in that as there's very few of them even good enough to be classed as lower championship players
