Why are we so hated in League 1

But that’s ignoring the games before. I’m seeing it as a whole of the time we have been in this league.

Oh so only time in this league quantifies then? A side that finished in a playoff final and divisional cup, was effectively voted out of a promotion/playoff place in their second season, and are on course for a league and cup double this season?

That isn't big for this league (player personnel only)? Which other 'teams' have been bigger?

Are Man City a big team because they haven't won the champions league?

I did soz. It's so easy to slip downwards but a lot harder to climb for sure.
All footy fans are the same everywhere, it's just a laugh to me, my club spent 5 years in non- league ( Luton ) drawing with bath university a particular highlight.

Our fans thought we were Brazil and everyone's cup final, we got up eventually but other fans had 5 years of laughter to remember forever.

Indeed there are similarities between a traditional football league club that falls into non-league and trying to get back up, and our current situation.

We are a big club, no doubt, but being a big club is different to being a big team for me.
Team wise we are only as good as the team on the pitch. And at times we’ve been poo.

I hope you get the support you need xx
Janey you are alright chick and like the rest of us have probably missed not being able to go to the game (hope I don't sound patronising), new season just around the corner and with a bit of look we will be in a higher division, not having to worry about catching some horrible disease.
If I am being honest, don't give a shiny shite what anybody thinks about us no matter what team we play or what division we are in. Chin up lass :) .

Tbh I think league 1 is more 'tin pot' than league 2 or the conference although that may well be due to lack of experience (other than going to Hartlepool games when I was younger and we played away) or there being far less coverage.

The way some teams, officials and even rules go on or are implemented at this level is a shambles tbh and I'd include certain individuals who are/were at this club as well.

Supporters of other clubs on here who yoyo between Leagues One and Two have assured as that the Refs in League Two are much worse

It's not just the refs though. League 2 sides just generally go about their business as the larger ex prem clubs etc don't usually, in the most part, fall that far so they aren't as weirdly hostile owa nowt (although thst could of course change if a big club did go down).

With regards to referees, in general there's been an improvement in decisions with no fans in the stadium which speaks volume. Bar the ref who decided to start a fight with an Ipswich player of course.

Thanks. Relapsed during lockdown. Be reet.

You don’t sound patronising at all.
I done care what others think either, though sometimes, the opposition fewm is fun
All that matters is getting out of this league x

That's^ the exact kind of attitude that gets other fans disliking you.

😂 Alright then, I’ve said many times before and in this thread that we’re in this division on merit because of our terrible championship season where we deservedly got relegated. But how anyone can objectively think a club with our resources should be playing at this level is just daft and we shouldn’t be criticised for saying it.

We generate revenue from our support that outstrips every other club in this league by a significant margin and most clubs in the division above. We have a category 1 academy at our disposal that has regularly produced players who forge careers in this league, the championship, premier league and for England and we have the ability to spend more money on wages and fees than any other team in this league. If you add all of that together and still think we belong in this division then I have a bridge to sell you. The fact we haven’t been able to get promoted yet despite all of the above is again down to gross mismanagement from the directors, that’s no fault of the fans.

If other supporters dislike me for saying that it’s just envy in my view.

We’re not the first club this has happened to and won’t be the last, clubs like Leeds, sheff United, Ipswich, Leicester, Wolves shouldn’t be in this division either but at various times have found it happen to them.

We got ourselves into this mess through awful neglect and mismanagement, we now need to earn the right to get out of it by winning the games required. Me saying we shouldn’t be in the division isn’t the same as asserting we have a divine right to promotion, we need to earn it on the pitch and I’m fully aware of that.

Didn't Pompey fall down to League Two a few years back? Would be interesting to hear their experiences in League Two.

you appear to have a massive chip on your shoulder.

there are sunderland fans who have absolutely acted and talked like we are too good to be in the third division but they are few and far between. we are where we are because we are shite on the pitch but off it you won't find a more humble set of fans imo.

Sadly to outsiders they will get a distorted proportion on here, the most vocal often have the most extreme views. It's worth remembering that (right now for example) there are two guests viewing for every member and many members hardly post. Every community has a dodgy element but I genuinely believe based on decades of travelling, attending and meeting in the rest of life that that element must be a tiny minority overall.

Aye there's one or two but most don't. Normally get to league 1 and get sold to some knacker who thinks they are buying money and promotion is a given.

Pompey might be slightly different as they were absolutely fucked when they went down. I'm sure they had been in administration twice and had their owner arrested for asset stripping and lost all their players so probably had a fair bit of pity from other sides.

The league is tin pot because of the officials , not the clubs and fans of other clubs, who the majority of us would rather mix with day in day out over those of man u and Chelsea.
What this League has is League 1 officials, who aren't going to be anywhere near as good as PL officials, that's why they are officiating in League 1. We are in League 1, with League 1 teams and League 1 players. We are here because we deserve to be here, it's not a tinpot league, its a league at level 3 of the pyramid, and it's not as good as the leagues above but better than the leagues below. And as for the "best fans in the world", there is some on here that could learn a bit from the supporters of lower league teams. As been said previously, there's lots of them who support unfashionable teams, week in, week out, home and away, with no hope of anything better, despite PL teams being close to them. That's called a proper supporter!

Man City (edit: wrong!!) , Blackpool, Wolves, Coventry are probably the biggest others in the 'modern era' to have played in the fourth tier.

edit 2: "that have bounced back" and Burnley should be on the list.
