sorry but thats bollocks

"howay the toon" was sung way way before then man, in fact as long as i can remember

i can recall an interview with jackie milburn , possibly on this is your life?) he refers to playing for the toon

even my gran used to ask me how the toon had got on

'Howay the lads' shirley? So that fact that your gran used to refer to them as the Toon proves what? As has been stated, you started using it about 92 and then Toon Army developed. It has no real history and is plastic as fuck. FACT. NUFC since 1992.

To be fair mags have used the term "toon" to refer to the skunks for donkeys years.
The first time I ever heard the word toon chanted by mags was around the time of the John Hall geordie nation shite.

Of course the only mag home games I've ever been to are when the oppo is us so what the fuck do I know...I wouldn't gan banging on about it on a mag messageboard mind;)

See “Black Cats” and "Mackems". No real history and plastic as fuck. FACT. “Sunderland Til I Die” AKA “Sunderland Til Half Time” (SJP, 31/Oct/10).

You really are a cretin. What type of absolute freak sits all day on a forum intended for the fans of their nearest rivals?

Get a life man.

I think that'll keep them away marra. I can tell by reading your posts that you are a right handy fucker

Ahh aye I'm well gutted by your scintillating repartee

Well done, you can use big words.

Now, if you look in the top right of the screen, there is a log out button. Once you have done this, go to google, and type "skunkers" or "toontastic". Should suit your needs, at least you can associate with other Newcastle messageboard ***** and discuss how f***ing great Newcastle are. Post 1992 like.

... Sunderland was different. Back then they called themselves “Geordies” and took offence when we took the piss out of them with the “Mak ‘em and Tak’em” taunt. In truth this applied only to those Sunderland fans from the shipbuilding areas of Southwick and Pallion but it opened up the schism that has always existed within a support drawn from a more fragmented geographical area which endures to this day. There are Sunderland fans from South Tyneside and Durham etc with a fervent loyalty to SAFC with absolutely no affiliation, affection or even sketchiest knowledge of Sunderland as a place. That compares poorly to Newcastle, where the club and city is interchangeable, the expression The Toon applying to both club and the city centre its based in. Newcastle, as a city (always massively bonnier, more livelier a place than Sunderland ever was or ever will be) attracting a loyalty and love from those inside and outside its boundaries within its catchment area. Sunderland doesn’t have that. And never will. Aways in our shadow.

Actually I'm from Consett in Durham, Newcastle is twice as close to me as Sunderland, yet whenever I am in "the toon" I feel physically f***ing sick and can't wait to get out of the place. The locals are an absolute embarrassment, plenty of jobless idiots roaming around staring lovingly up at The Gate where no doubt they will be spending their dole money tonight.

Sunderland is 20 miles away, but I have a massive affection for the city, the people are spot on, they'll always lend a helping hand if ever you're in trouble, plenty of Mags always trot out the "Sunderland is a shithole" excuse but I have to say they're either uneducated or just plain ingorant. The city centre is more than fine with some really nice pubs if you fancy a pint pre game. I feel more secure in Sunderland, it feels like home. In fact, when I'm older I'm considering moving there.

So do one, f***ing Mag tosser.

Fuck me, how thick are you?

How thick am I? They're arguing about when 'toon' began being used. When did 'Black cats' :)lol:) start being used eh? And your referral to yourselves as 'Mackems' (as far as i am aware it is an insult)? Yous used to pretend you were Geordies when you were on holiday!

Do you know how i know who Sunlun are playing at home? The away fans stay in and socialise in Newcastle. Maybe you should educate them and they might, just might, spend the night there and contribute to your vibrant economy.

And just for the record, i'm often at Court in Sunlun (for work) and the looks i get off the dippit yocals - i dont think they see many people wearing suits other than the shell variety!
