Who'd be a Geordie?

no we dont;)

I have to confess to something here Shinton.

I have Newcastle fans in my family, in the Consett and Chopwell areas, so much of this stuff is just harmless banter.

However, one thing I really struggle with is the treatment of Bobby Robson.

I come from Durham and our two families knew each other so I always watched his career with interest. What sickens me was how he was hailed as a returning Geordie hero despite not being a Geordie, turned on despite giving Newcastle great service and thrown out while the fans turned their backs and whistled.

That was bad enough but when he died the way the Newcastle fans claimed him was dreadful. I won't go into that behaviour because it's upsetting but we all know what went on.

Whenever I have a look on BBC 606 it sickens me with the amount of people who have usernames like 'Sir Bobby Robson-Legend' and latch onto his status in football.

If anyone but a Newcastle fan dares to mention his name they're immediately jumped on as being disrespectful.

Very poor and I'll never forgive the hypocracy.

the first time i heard the toon army chant was during our 92 cup run. we were singing red and white army and they adopted the toon army chant soon after.

surely in the context of bobby robsons life he was a geordie as was every north easterner back in the day

i cant argue he wasnt treat badly in the end and tbh i did find all the fans mourning & laying shirts etc in the leazes end a tad uncomfortable. fat fred took the biscuit with his comments

i also struggle to think nufc would chant the name of a sunderland manager with respect after his death, sadly.

but i look at the fabulous work of the bobby robson foundation as the mans legacy for ALL the north east.

so before keegan sky & the PL then?

Boycoutt the club

The disgusting hounding out of Sir Bobby Robson then acting as if he was god when he died

Kevin keegan "I'd love it if we beat them"

Mary Poppins

Freddy Sheppard ridiculing fans for buying replica shirts

Idiots standing outside of sheera's bar

Thinking newcastle are everyones "second team"

the infamous waiting list

bowyer and dyer

Please add to the list.

your question may have had more credibility if you'd asked 'Who'd be a Mag?'

Plenty of 'Geordie' red and whites.

f***ing hell, far to many egos on here instead of just joining in looking to moan at stupid things.
Areet, I have clearly put geordie instead of mag. Wow. It's been pointed out about 50 times already.

Boring.

Shints, Rocky - you talk of not forgiving hypocrisy. Did Sunderland fans chant Bobby Robsons name with respect? If so, what was it you chanted before his death? "Hes nearly dead?" I think ... is that not hypocritical in the extreme?!

Didn't someone place a shirt with a note "i wish it was Ashley instead of you" ?

The NYPD if it hasn't already been said.

Loving Ashley, then wanting him out, then good results so loving him again, then he sacks their manager and they want him out, then Pardew wins his first match and they love him, then they lose so they want him out..

All being said about them and the running of their club, they have had shit more success than a lot of well run teams.

Maybe thats the route to go down? It's like life, the biggest tossers seem to get all the breaks.
