Who'd be a Geordie?

It never ceases to amaze me how a set of fans can keep coming back time after time regardless of the insults, ridicule and robbery inflicted on them by the owners of the club.
In any other walk of life the organisation would be sunk without trace for treating it's customers like that..remember Ratners?
John Hall perpetrated some scandalous scams on them. Refurbish the stadium ( with club money ) and then 'donate it' to his family company that has an exclusive lease arrangement back to the club at very attractive rates.
Inflicting his inept and very suss offspring on the club, the epitome of unbridled nepotism.
The executive salaries drawn by spoilt brat Dougie ( the druggie ) and his faithfull side kick Fat Freddie. Doanld Trump would have been embarassed.
Irrc the sum that the shepherds and the halls took from the club during their tenure ran into 9 figures. Ye gods, love for the club hath no bounds.
The debenture scheme ( buying a short term 'entitlement' to a season ticket )
The eviction of long serving supporters so that their seating area can be used for the prawn sandwich brigade.
Fat Fred and Dougie the druggie's scandalous treatment of Bobby Robson ( putting him on borrowed time thus emasculating him in the eyes of fans, players, and the rest of the watching world ).
Had agent ashley done a proper due diligence on the club he wouldnt have touched it with a barge pole. No doubt his embarassment at not having done so renders him unable to expose the financial shambles ( irregularities ???) left behind by the Byker Bagmen.
The Gormless geordies continued dedication is bewildering and testimony to their inability to recognise right from wrong, good from bad etc.

Customers? Theres a difference between being a customer and supporter. You can't just go and support another a team just because the powers that be are complete (which as you rightly point out they are). But the support will be there long after Freddy, sir john and fcb are dead and gone.

And the fact that Sunderland now has a benefactor and on the face of it is well run the powers that be must be bewildered at what they have to do to drum up the same 'custom' as their neighbors up the road. I wonder if they thought that when you were getting humped during the last derby

Best go to bed then, you got school in a few hours

No, I'm still up shithead

Fact remains Short and Quinn want to be here and did their homework before they bought in. No doubt they were saddened to see us humped. Had that been the forerunner to a slump fair enough, but we've given Chelsea the biggest humping they've had at Stamford Bridge for years and we've got a good grip on sixth. I'm sure they are quietly smug about progress.
Agent ashley wants out and has been trying to flog your assetless shell once he realised he'd bought a very hungry lame dog.
Nothing is more certain that carroll will get sold, rumours abound that pardew and ashley are already falling out. Barton is being touted around the clubs.
The arrival of koorachian (sp ) is hardly cause for optimism. The man makes 'arry look like a saint.

I love this always in our shadow bollocks clearly part of the post 92 propaganda that was and continues to be peddled by the likes of that f***ing Lee Ryder clown and that tool Steve wraiths

Best thing is they actually believe in the media hype surrounding the toon

Up there with the continued great European night myth for the scousers peddled by itv

Just read all ten pages and I knew quite early that this **** would eventually resort to attendances. Utterly predictable, it's all you've got. Oh and for your information 'Toon Army' was invented in the early days of Keegan being your manager first time round. It's plastic, like the vast majority of the 'Geordie Nation'. NUFC since 1992.

great thread lads!!!

FYI as ive posted on here before by my recollection which obviously i cant prove i first heard toon army being chanted mid/late 80's during the ski hat craze that hit the terraces during that era

most clubs would chant blue army red army etc... black & white army didnt really fit the chant so toon army was chanted

toon army then became a collective noun for nufc fans and was grabbed by sky & the club itself

Sorry Shints but that's bollocks, your mind's playing tricks on you. I grew up in Tyneside and Toon was only ever used for going into Newcastle. I can remember in the mid 90's asking a Mag mate mate of mine what Newcastle fans were singing and was told that it was 'Toon Toon black and white army'. This was around the time that Reid was in charge of us, or maybe just before then.

The saddest thing is that they just can't see how there are.

The continual rewriting of history is quite sickening.

We all see them on TV, we watch reports on Look North, we see them with our own eyes at matches and in the street.

But they still deny ever booing Robson and wanting him out, still deny ever saying 'Geordie Nation' or 'Messiah' or 'King Kev', still deny waving bedsheets outside SJP, still deny saying Hughton was one of the Cockney mafia, still insist the Fairs Cup is really the UEFA Cup, still claim they walked into the Fulwell End whenever they felt like it, still think it wasn't absolutely f***ing hilarious when, at the 2nd leg play-off match, they got to the halfway line during their pitch invasion, shit their pants and trudged back to their end
