I lost all my passion for the England setup when I saw them smoking cigars after being bumfucked by Germany in the last World Cup, I'll be watching and hoping they do well but wont be getting excited at all - they killed it for me with that.

I agree with the overall sentiments ^ but we are english so to me there should be no other option but to want them to win

Hate the amount of times people use the arrogance and golden generation as a reason. It really doesn't matter imo, and the only arrogance is from gobshite journos.

10 years ago I rwally cared about England's performance, now I don't.

I will support them in the Euro's, but with only a small fraction of the Passion that I feel for Sunderland.

I will not be that bothered when they get knocked out.

Why the difference to 10 years ago? - I really don't know.

I could hypothesise about arrogance and foreign coaches, southern bias and poor football, but none of these things really bothers me that much - I'm just no longer that arsed about the England football team.

I think this reflects a lot of peoples attitude towards them - it's not an active anti-england movement, more one of just apathy.

I definitely want them to win, just got no passion for them after the cigar smoking thing - I guess it might come back if we get to the final or semis but I honestly doubt it.

good post, and I've just noticed weve both referred to England as 'them' rather than 'us' - I guess thats quite telling.

I'll be supporting them as usual, looking forward to it. I'll be gutted when they get knocked out and wonder if I'll ever see them win a tournament in my time.

This.

I can't understand anyone not wanting their country to win a major tournament. I've been supporting Sunderland and England for 35 years without a major championship or cup to show for it. I would be bloody ecstatic if that changed.

100% this.

When did people lose sight of their inner child?

It was Sunderland and England.

I certainly won't. It's the close season, everything in it's place.

You need to understand that we are not all alike. I can think of nothing worse than sitting watching football on tele, I have far better things to do.

I'll be supporting Ireland because I'm from there. Really hope England fail because of pricks like you though ;)

I usually like to see the FA's team make a mess of things. I certainly wouldn't want them to win the thing. I couldn't stand the hype. I quite enjoy all the hand wringing, and to hear Mike Ingham and Alan Green's disappointment is always nice.

I'm not sure why I have this attitude - it's strange, but I just do, and I'm not the only football supporter to feel this way.

Even when England won the world cup in 1966 when I was 10 years old, I wasn't bothered too much.

For me it's because most of them are despicable human beings who don't deserve to be called champions of anything if you've got any moral compass whatsoever.

Plus, Sky keep telling me we have world class players when judging by international performance we clearly don't.

I'm looking forward to Earth's first match. Who are we playing, is it a local derby vs Mars?

I really don't need my sportsmen to have a big moral compass. Were you cheering on Titus, Bendtner and Cattermole last season?

Best hand our World Cup back because Bobby Moore nicked those necklaces.
